My personal strategy is to invest in corporate bonds as banks will now be pre-empting the eurozone collapse and will start stockpiling cash again, and once the equity markets drop significantly (ftse 100 circa 4000) get back in to take advantage of the boom that will be given to countries freed from the shackles of a strong Euro.

Is barking mad the new term to describe people who have consistently been proved right?

I agree with Max King (strategist at Investec): To achieve significant upside, investors need to see a cure of the cancer eating away at the global financial system - the eurozone crisis. Without growth, which a lack of competiveness in Southern Europe makes impossible, there can be no escape from the fiscal, debt and banking crisis engulfing the region. We believe this can only end one way - with at least six countries leaving the eurozone. Provided that central banks provide the liquidity to support their banks, which will inevitably face major losses, this should have the same consequences as previous break-ups of unsustainable malfunctioning currency unions: it will pave the way for economic recovery and higher equity markets. We would see a partial euro break-up as potentially very positive, providing a signal to establish a more positive view on equities. In our view, we are almost at crunch point. http://www.investmentweek.co.uk/investment-week/opinion/2105656/august-markets-false-warning Don't make the mistake of believing politicians (or know-it-all teenagers on TSW).
  5. The only danger is being hit on the head with a coin. When it hailed there the coins were flying back and forth. Cheap skates (no pun intended) only went as high as 20p's though (i pocketed a couple).
  6. Did anyone else notice the copper with camcorder filming the front rows up at Donny? He literally stood there for the entire 90 minutes. Can't say i've ever noticed this before in a ground. I presume the Keepmoat doesn't have cctv.

Our economy is heavily weighted in the financial sector so it is essential that we protect this sector and keep London in it's position. Failure to do so would lead to an exodus to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bombay etc. That would do none of us any favours.
  9. I'm relieved I didn't apply now. It would have been a nightmare having to sort out collection in such a short period.
  10. Anyway back on topic, there is something amiss here. Why the secrecy over the allocation? Why the stipulation for non season ticket holders to have attended 4 aways or more? If tickets have been returned (and I doubt we'll ever hear that officially) then who made the decisions that led to this embarrassment?

Hardly. The first notable event would likely be a nationalistic build up of forces in La Line, and us taking similar steps across the border. I really do believe that Spain is in big trouble - you only have to see the numbers unemployed and the abandonment of building projects including roads. In this country we haven't seen hard times, but they are seeing them.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Spain go back to fascism. A chain of events could then begin.

S&P - 50% chance of downgrade of Germany and France AAA status. Yesterdays events have hardly given the Markets a boost either. You would have expect a surge, but what we saw was little change in their outlook. The best thing can happen is for the whole whole Euro to collapse in a structured way and then we can start rebuilding.
