  1. I've explained before that i'd be happy when the Conservative block was in power with UKIP because we'd get a referendum on such things as banning the Burkha (a ukip policy), but a coin has both sides and it'd be horrible to live under a leftie coalition. n'b i've used the Burkha point as i'm sure those on theft would have a fit of the vapours if we did have this referendum so ask yourself do you want PR and such politics in govt? Because if we did get PR you'll have made the bed so you'll bloody well have to lie in it.
  2. I disagree because UKIP would do well under PR with voters knowing tha a vote for UKIP is a vote for the Conservative coalition. In respect of the right wing block it would push the block away from the centre. The same would happen with the leftwing block - as Labour loses proportional influence it would become more leftwing..
  3. It could work, but PR would deliver hardline politics and each successive change of govt would be all about undoing what the last lot did.
  4. Not the BNP, but yes UKIP would be a loyal member of the Conservative block. Gone would be the days of centre ground politics.
  5. You're right about what would happen, but I wouldn't be happy to see our country go down the economic pan. I'm sure Ludwig and his type don't give a stuff about democracy or the economy, they are clearly anarchists of the same ilk as the G20 protestors.
  6. Rubbish, do you really think the voting public would sit by and allow Britain to be ruled permanently by a commie left wing dictatorship? There would be a left wing block and a right wing block.
  7. It speaks volumes about where the Liberals priorities lie. They are a party that cares more about their own interests than the interests of the country. If they form a coalition with Labour the said coalition will collapse along with the economy.
  8. On this every sane person agrees. And this is exactly what would happen under PR after every election as Nickh rightly explains in his thread.
  9. Dream on. Are you that stupid to think all the parliamentary Labour party will support the motion?
  10. As Gordon Brown would say - "I agree with Nick".
  11. Don't be daft, i'm sitting here shaking my head that you lot are so daft you think that a multi party cobbled together coalition could work. Sterling will crash within days of such a coalition being announced and we'll be at the IMF pleading for a bailout.
  12. This was my pre election prediction (before the exit polls): Share of the Vote Conservative - 39% Labour - 28% Liberal - 23% Seats Conservative - 324 Labour - 237 Liberal - 61 I think you'll agree that it wasn't a bad prediction.
  13. :smt043 That'll really reasure the markets and deliver an effective government. And when you say about 329, is it 329 or not?
  14. I said give me the numbers, you do know the numbers don't you?
  15. It won't get through parliament because even if the Labour whips whip for England they still won't be able to get all Labour MP's to back it because FPTP favours Labour. Add these MP's to the Conservatives who'll all vote against + the DUP and it equals defeat.
  16. Give me some numbers seeing as how you've got it all worked out.
  17. Precisely. The liberal Party is, and always has been wishy washy. In the north the Liberals are an alternative to Labour, in the South the Liberals are an alternative to the conservatives. If the Liberals side with the Conservatives they'll lose votes in the North, if the Liberals side with Labour they can wave good bye to the south and south west. Whicher way the Liberals go they'll bit hit, but siding with the Conservatives will hit them the least.
  18. The Conservatives should form the next government, either as a minority or as part of a Lib-Con coalition, because they have the most votes and the most seats so they have the mandate. I'm not spitting my dummy out just because i despise Labour and the Liberals for the simple reason that a Lib-Lab pact would be good for the Tories at the next election because even with dastardly tactical voters, seats such as Eastleigh would turn blue in disgust, but because a Lib-Lab pact would be a minority coalition and therefore a very weak government. Do you fancy another run on the pound and an IMF bailout?
  19. You've gotta larf how a multi million £££ airline is being held to randsom by a few glorified waitresses. Just sack them and get someone else to push the trolleys up the aisle.
  20. Nah, i didn't think you would. Get your facts right next time though before you gob off.
  21. Assuming there is a Lib-Lab minority coalition stitch up because Nick Smugg see's it as the best chance of PR for his party, and assuming that somehow Smugg get's it through parliament and to a referendum, does anyone really think the general public are going to vote for an electoral system championed by Smugg and his canniving and unscrupulous party?
  22. What a Labour spin doctor says and what the general publics thinks is totally different. He may be technically correct, but morally the next government should be Conservative and the next PM should be David Cameron. There will be a lot of anger if we are left with a Lib-Lab minority coalition stitch up.
  23. I can't remember ever saying that Labour couldn't work with the nationalists, please provide a link to this quote of mine or reatract that statement and apologise. I have said that I don't think the Conservatives could work with the Nationalists.
