  1. Why go on the pitch today? Please tell me it was just stupid teenagers.
  2. I can indeed. I just wish govts. would shut up about climate change as we all know it has nothing to do with burning fossil fuels. I can provide you with lots of links from the Express if you would like to know more.
  3. Man made global warming is a lie therefore any decisions on energy production should not be influenced by this wacky leftwing conspiracy.
  4. Sadly you are right, the Union is no longer feasible. Alex Salmond wants a referendum on independance, I say no, it was Scotland that begged England for a Union in the early 18th Century because they were bankrupt and they needed us to save them. They were not conquered by England - they asked us to rule them. Therefore it is my view that Scotland is morally Englands property and therefore it should be for the English to decide whether we wish them to remain a posession of ours or not.

    BNP

It does seem that the BNP are fading and much of that is to do with Nick Griffin being a liability. The far right is known for it's infighting and even before todays results the BNP was starting to rock with factions within the party not happy with Griffin. The result in barking and Dagenham will be the straw that breaks the camels back and for a while I can see the BNP retreating while a power struggle ensues. I don't know if you're in favour of PR or not, but the prospect of it will imo be the only thing that might see the party attempt to paper over the cracks more urgently because for minority parties like them this is what they dream of and with a more intelligent leader the BNP can and will bounce back, but unlike SRS i accept they'll never achieve decent numbers of votes.

The best result of the night was Winchester and Romsey.

    BNP

No, it's UKIP that will do that if PR ever happens.
  8. The plus side of PR would be seeing Caroline Lucas and Nick Griffin sat next to each other in the loony section (currently where the Liberals sit) because no main party would touch them with a barge pole.
  9. No it wouldn't because nobody votes for small parties like the Liberals in national elections because it's a waste of a vote, so you're using figures that from the FPTP system to PR that would not be the same under PR.

    BNP

It comes to something when the day after the election that promised so much for the Liberals all you've got cheer about is 12 local councillors losing their seats.
  11. That's too simplistic. Had the system been PR all the main parties would have polled less and all the minority parties would have polled more.
  12. Jaqui Smith would be a vote winner.

    Let's be honest

I'm not so sure. Being able to dispose of Osborne like this may well be seen as great way to get rid without the embarrassment. This way they can reluctantly move him into a cabinet job that doesn't get much media attention as senior Tories would love to do.
  14. I didn't like Blair because he was very good and a vote winner. I think the Labour lot think Milliband is a young Tony Blair but he definitely is not.
  15. He will get into Power, there is no doubt in my mind about that. Brown does make me laugh though, what a sad little man, offering PR because he's so desperate to carry on as the unelected leader that never won an election. The Liberals want PR, and PR will mean coalition governments forever, so here is their opportunity to work with the Conservatives and prove that the system can work.
  16. Yes, i bet Labour wish they could have done that with Brown.
  17. wow, that's an achievement.
  18. I hate him more than Brown. He's smarmy and smug and all teeth. Don't like him at all.

    Let's be honest

How would you feel if you lived in a stately home knowing that when you died your children may have to sell an important Gainsborough? The Tories are not looking after their own, this policy has nothing to do with the old leftie whinge about the tories being the party of the rich, this is a policy that is all about enabling Britains precious historical houses to protect their collections so that working class people can go on days out to these wonderful attractions and marvel at the contents. It's people like you that totally miss the point and always have to see the worst in every Tory proposal.

    Don't be silly.

    Let's be honest

It won't work, the Tories and the Liberals are poles apart at all levels of their respective parties. SkyBet are offering 11/10 on another election this year and you'd be a fool to back against it.

    BNP

The BNP has lost all 12 councillors in barking and dagenham it's just been announced. I reckon Stu shouldn't give up the day job.
  23. I think UKIP will probably stop the Tories ever getting back to 40%+ levels. I noticed that in several close defeats for the Tories that if you'd topped up the Tory vote with the UKIP vote they'd have won.
