What do you mean 'one of the top spenders'? Who would we be out ranking that would surprise you? How much do you think we'll spend? I'm assuming we don't sell Shaw, partly because I think we won't and partly it makes this exercise a bit clearer.
-
A net spend of £30m might be unlikely, but if we reinvest what we receive for Osvaldo, then spend another £16-20m, that's potentially quite a good summer in my eyes.
-
It could be argued that our scouting network hasn't been particularly impressive of late, but then every club is after a hidden bargain somewhere.
-
Might Clyne himself not be pushing for a move this summer? He would want and expect first team football, not starting on the bench most weeks, so it's understandable if he looks around and pushes for that himself.
-
I agree, he has shown plenty of promise, the lad obviously has ability, but it hasn't worked for him here and he still seems to struggle with the pace of the game in our league; really hard one to call and guess what will happen to him and where he'd end up. Be interesting to see if he gets much world cup time and how he does with that.
-
I think Ramirez will leave as well, just hasn't worked out for him here and he'll want to be somewhere where he is a first team regular; the only thing that might be a struggle is finding a club in Italy or Spain that would come close to paying the salary he's on here.

Correct. Wanyama is a very good, solid, defensive midfielder, but he needs a bit more than time and a bit of work on his passing to become a Viera or Toure unfortunately. A pity, as I'd hoped he was going to offer a bit more of an all round game for us, but still a good player and a decent signing.
-
How can I argue with such logic When did Viera play for Metalurg Donetsk? Not that it has any relevance to anything.

Should MP drop Lambert for the Palace game!

Pretty much every club in the Premier League will splash near to £10m this coming summer, it's not exactly big spending. -
Wanyama is not going to become the next Yaya Toure or Viera is he

What the f**k?
-
Yes, but why not just sit in Switzerland and sell?
-
Maybe, but what would the point be in the owner attending several games, look at appointing a Ice Hockey coach to the club etc, if they intended to just try and use the club as an immediate cash cow?

We're not going to get him I'm afraid. -

So make the most of watching one of the club's great heroes play while you still can. -

We're obviously going to buy another striker this coming summer, as we did last summer. -
Why did Cortese take so long over selecting the right man if it was such an easy job, with an unbeatable squad of players? Any old mug could do it. How did they manage their S****horpe promotions as well?
-
Plenty of teams have spent multi-millions on talent and not got promoted, it's one of the hardest asks in football and is a great achievement.
-
Yeah it's really easy to get promoted out of the Championship, just fill your team with top players, look at QPR now........
-
Together as one.

Lambert obviously isn't going to go on for ever due to his age, but he's not exactly "been finished" this season - his return for us is respectable if not spectaular so far. -
So Adam Johnson and Andy Carroll are the answer instead of Lambert and Rodriguez? What has the last couple of years of their career looked like?
-
Sterling is already part of the squad.
