  1. If the players are aware of it, can the stat on our ability to come from behind almost become a self-fulfilling prophecy, the players almost think to themselves "well that's in then". Also the fact that we struggle to get behind defences that sit deep and just invite us on, becomes more of a problem once the opposition has got one goal.
  2. Happy to help a newbie out - no-one suggested that trying our best to beat Sunderland would have resulted in us winning the FA Cup. Glad to be of help.
  3. Chambers has the potential make up to play as Centre Back, but as far as I know he's never played there at any youth level and obviously hasn't played there for the first team - not sure how the club would go through that process, maybe some exposure in pre-season.
  4. Yeah exactly, point being we're in for months of speculation on everything, nothing 'ITK' really being heard at the moment.
  5. Are The Mirror a reliable source for anything? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-transfer-news-rafa-silva-3198252
  6. If we get a decent Osvaldo replacement (£15-20M), maybe take a punt on a Mayuka type for circa £2-3m, still have Lambert involved in some way and Gallagher with a year's more development, that's good for me.
  7. Let me get this right, you think we should buy a striker this summer? Maybe one that offers some pace and movement up front? That Suarez and Sturridge make a difference for Liverpool? Why has no-one mentioned any of this on here before?
  8. One of the reasons we have so much possession is we are clearly instructed to be cautious as to when we shoot or cross, that will equal more possession, but less attempts on goal. The other factor is we have play a team that contains Cork/Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Davis - putting out a team with those three in should ensure your side is good at winning the ball back and retaining possession, but you're fielding a team made up a back 5 +3 others that don't really score or create too many outright chances - it asks a lot of the rest of the side at times.
  9. Anyone know why the attendance for yesterday's game was so low for a 'sold out' match?
  10. Playing Devil's advocate, where were we in the net spend table for the Premier League this season?
  11. At least two forwards in? We'll definitely bring in one, if we get in two that will be fantastic, don't think we can really expect more than that.
  12. It's not impossible, but pretty unlikely and I can't imagine very appealing for Clyne. If we sell Shaw we'll buy a decent left-back replacement.
  13. MP with a "stronger" side as well it could be argued.
  14. would Clyne really want to be playing left back every single week? If we do sell Shaw this summer we're going to get a ton of money, enough to buy a pretty decent standard left back.
  15. Don't think I've seen many sides or home supports give up like that at 2-0 down, heads really went down and the ground really emptied.
  16. He's obviously not going to go to Brazil as our first choice striker and we're obviously not going to be a "laughing stock".
  17. He tried hard yesterday but was poor, spent too long on the ball, gave away possession, got in other player's way, we seemed to go backwards when he came on, admittedly the game was changing at the time anyway, just not sure how much that was down to him.
  18. Don't see why we don't start mixing it up a bit, try a few different line ups, tactics, positions for players, we've got nothing to play for and are getting beat anyway, so won't ever get a better opportunity to try a few things out.
  19. Exactly, so some players have thrived under him, others have gone backwards, neither should be considered in isolation.
  20. Agreed. I'm well aware we don't play with "wingers" these days, but the option of some pace and width, even just off the bench to change things up would be nice - we have nothing of that regard to offer.
  21. Well I don't know either. How many strikers were out there at the level that we'd want that were available and willing to join us on loan in Jan? Which loans happened in the Prem this Jan that we should have gone for?
  22. And conversely, what about the performances of Lambert, Yoshida, Clyne,Ramirez, Puncheon?
  23. I fully expect Clyne to put in a transfer request this summer.
  24. Davis was poor today, but generally he's been alright for us, one of those players that sums up MP's playing style for us, depends how much you like that?
  25. Who could we have got on loan from January?
