  1. Well if he's known for reading instructions, I'll let you draw your own conclusions
  2. for that price I can live without the manuals. Probably wouldn't have read them anyway being male :smt042
  3. Appears to be one of the benefits of having a .ac.uk email address  We used to have work at home rights on office XP, but I think microsoft got a bit worried about piracy, so came up with this deal.
  4. I don't mind at all. Both Vista and Office cost just under £100 all in with back up discs included.
  5. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt I ordered the discs too, but couldn't wait. There was a download option, and as it would only take 20 minutes to download the 3Gb files at work, it seemed silly not to take advantage!
  6. it's an official microsoft download, they do also send discs for an extra £8.95, but I'm just not patient enough to wait for the mail, so I have Vista Ultimate 32-bit and Office 2007 ultimate on my 8Gb memory stick for installation when I get home tonight
  7. Thank you, I shall go download the 32-bit version now then. I'd rather have everything working than try and be a bit too flash!
  8. Games, working from home, music, porn - the usual. So 64-bit would work ok on 4GB RAM? If so I can download it at work today and install tonight :smt003
  9. I'm going to upgrade from XP to Vista ultimate, and I know that my hardware supports 64-bit, but I read somewhere that you need 6GB memory to get the best out of it. I only have 4GB at the moment, and can't afford to upgrade both so would I be better going for the 32bit version? Ta.
  10. In order to avoid doing any real work, did he always seem to be attending workshops, seminars and other such meaningless events dreamt up by like minded individuals also lacking any real purpose in life?
  11. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a deliberate ploy to make the Twenty20 look more appealing. After all, that's where the big money is in Indian Cricket now. If test matches are that dull, they'll be able to argue to cut one or two matches out of a series in favour of a couple more 20 over matches in a tour.
  12. I preferred the fun with numbers games if I'm being honest.
  13. I know, just playing devil's advocate My question above about what quality programmes have come from commercial tv stil stands though.
  14. I'm you've boasted in the past about places that your sub has surfaced and the fun times you've had. Would that not count as "swanning it up at our expense"?
  15. A lisp like that doesn't come cheap.
  16. It does let itself down by employing Chris Moyles, Sara Cox etc though.
  17. What has been produced by commercial tv to match then? I can think of possibly Green Wing on C4. EDIT: If we're talking historically, what about Only Fools, Fawlty Towers and anything done by David Attenborough. EDIT #2: Later with Jools Holland, and his Hootenanny (sp?) are also very good. EDIT #3: Have I got news for you. EDIT #4: QI
  18. I quite enjoyed Coast too, though it was slightly less exotic.
  19. 1. No adverts 2. It's publicly funded and as such is accountable for it's actions. 3. No adverts 4. Due to the fact that it is not having to be commercially competitive, it can take a few more risks in terms of programming. Had it been commercial, for example, they may not have brought Dr Who back (whether you like it or not, it was a success). 5. No adverts 6. It's recognised the world over for the quality of it's news reporting, and when compared to something like Fox News (watch it if you have Sky), ITN or Sky News it is almost completely unbiased. 7. No adverts (did you see that coming) 8. It is at the forefront of developing new technologies for watching TV. There has been talk about opening it's full archives for viewing online. 9. Test Match Special - Essential summer listening 10. The World Service 11. It's £10 per month, 25% of the cost of Sky (with Sports) and in 4 TV channels there's probably more watchable content than the other 6 or 700 channels put together. 12. If you live in the Look East region, theres always Janine Machin http://www.bbc.co.uk/lookeast/content/articles/2007/05/21/janine_machin_feature.shtml 13. They don't have 10-15 minutes of adverts per hour
  20. It's difficult to pinpoint an exact time. Obviously the Falklands and the Iranian embassy were examples of what we are capable of, but I tend to look at the British mentality as something that makes Britain great. For example during the London bombings, people weren't running around like headless chickens expecting the world to end, instead those that weren't helping seemed more interested in where they could get a cup of tea to tide them over until a bus turned up to take them home. I wouldn't be able to find them now, but I remember reading a few blogs at the time, and through all of the tragedy the typically cynical, dark British sense of humour really shone through. Other things that I personally think make Britain great include: -The legal system on the whole and the way it protects individual's freedoms and rights (not getting into the P.C. argument though) - The NHS, even with it's current difficulties. - The BBC
  21. I'd prefer 13, but would settle for 15 if I'm honest
  22. Orphans or young children would be good for such a job and you could probably knock the commission down to 5%.
  23. It will make him an easier target won't it? Maybe you've spotted theri cunning plan to get rid of him!!?
  24. The lass behind Miss Nigeria doesn't look too healthy. Miss Norway for me please.
  25. Would it be wrong to suggest that a sweepstake is in order to guess the reason?
