  1. Not getting snippy at all, you should know me Colin. But I am just picking you up on this because if you didn't want the statement, then Turkish's point is clearly not aimed at you, so why then pick him up on it? Why did you ask that question back to him? As I've just said on the Lies thread... there is a difference between us not liking what has happened, and their words being 'hot air'. None of us are happy at losing players but it seems some of the anger aimed at the board is based on fans' misconceptions and misinterpretations. It seems the new regime want to achieve something with players who want to be loyal to us while we achieve it. That may be a romantic and unrealistic notion, but it does mean that players who don't want to be here have been sold and we need to give the club time to see what happens. Still. As we've seen in the past, unpopular decisions sometimes have to be made and only time will tell if they pay off or not. No one is saying they're doing a good job yet, but to have decided that you don't believe them already just seems a bit extreme and, as I said, based purely on your own criteria, not their own statements.
  2. That's fair enough... look hypo I'm not trying to pick on you here but if you look back at your posts I hope you can recognise how you may have been coming across, that's all.
  3. Not a lie though. We wanted to retain them but the combination of high bids and players wanting these 'short cuts' to Europe going against their way of doing things meant we they were sold. So again, not a lie. Not a fire sale. Getting excellent fees in for players who we agreed to let leave for the above reasons. Yes really - again for the reasons about however intentions aren't guarantees. So not a lie. Again, sorry to nitpick, but he is not lying - things may not have worked out how he intended but he didn't lie. As I said before, you need to read what was said, not what you think was said. You've made judgements based on your own misinterpretations. And crucially, even if (I agree) those players leaving is not what we wanted, the club did not lie. And that is the major allegation from some.
  4. Which is just common sense IMO, and it's the same every season and every transfer window.
  5. And as I said, it's something I'm sure he'll learn in time. But in the great scheme of things, I believe most reasonable people can allow for it rather than using it as a stick.
  6. What about you? If you didn't want a statement, why are you commenting on it? And if you don't believe him, what more is there for you to say or hear? Personally I believe in giving someone the benefit of the doubt and giving them a chance to act on their words. Otherwise it's a bit like writing a player off permanently after a few poor performances... what does it achieve?
  7. I didn't get that impression at all, just that he wasn't willing or able to go into full details right now about what their plan might be.
  8. He's not being a cretin - you have to realise that the things you're picking on are a) things he will learn in time (knowing about football) and b) not his fault and not relevant (his 'Americanisms'), so it does come across that you're only picking up on HOW he says things, not WHAT he says.

  10. Learning about how Spurs work with Toronto. Was quite open about that I thought.
  11. Interestingly the main thing I picked up from the section about players who want to 'short-cut' into Europe is that we actually want players to be loyal to the club and to earn their European football with the club. Given all our discussion about loyalty, I'm sure we would all agree with the sentiment, and if we could do it would be truly amazing... but realistically, is that going to happen?
  12. Fair enough and good question as a result...
  13. Nothing. If he was knowingly lying, why would he mention that he met with Spurs officials at all?
  14. Additional interview with BBC Radio Solent here: https://t.co/6FrdFZhszt
  15. Too many people are hearing things without listening, and then interpreting what they hear with their heart, not their head. This is a difficult time, no doubt, and much work needs to be done to bring players in, but the club (Ralph and Ron) have both admitted as much. There haven't been any lies. People have made judgements based on their own misinterpretations.
  16. I think this is a bit inflammatory and unhelpful to be honest. What would be better would be to do as Ralph asks and judge them once the season begins, rather than all this flip-flapping that some fans seem to do. Nigel was always absolutely spot on when he said we shouldn't get too low after the defeat and shouldn't get too high after a win and it's the same with all this. A bit of emotional maturity is needed.

    Israel / Gaza

Agree KRG - I think most feel the same way. This piece struck a chord with me... i've seen plenty of people being labelled anti-Semite or pro-Hamas for daring to discuss Israel's approach... when all most of us are concerned for is the basic humanity of situation. http://www.tikkun.org/tikkundaily/2014/07/25/empathizing-with-gaza-does-not-make-me-anti-semitic-nor-pro-hamas-or-anti-israel-it-makes-me-human/
  18. I'll own up... I was looking for that post last night too, because I remember you posting it and me agreeing with you, at a time when most people were (understandably) rejoicing at the takeover.
  19. Not been on here long have you?! You're absolutely right of course, but the forum relies on people getting irate and arsey to keep it going... whether that's with players, owners, or each other... doesn't matter. It's the fuel that keeps the place running.
  20. OP was worth a read again, just not sure quite why FF felt the need to dredge it up. Although if anything it should serve as a reminder that we've been in worse situations than we currently are and almost certainly will be again at some point in the future, with some good bits in between. Nothing stays the same, especially in football. Enjoy the good bits while you have some.
  21. We have a winner! Godwin's law in post 69. Quite quick actually.
  22. As much as people may not like what is happening, or have much love for anyone on the Board at present, I'm sure the club are not that stupid that they would send him on without realising what is likely to be asked, and to have something supposedly of worth to say. That's not to say it will answer all the questions or placate people, but this is clearly not just happening on a whim. Intrigued to see what is said.
  23. Here's an interesting thought (and not one of my own to be honest, but from a fellow fan). What if Markus' original investment in Saints had a potential exit planned at this point anyway? All investments usually have an exit strategy built in to them before they're even complete, so what if Kat is simply exercising part of a plan that her father may have already had in place? Cortese was an investment banker who advised Markus on investments... who is to say what might have happened had he still been here?
  24. All sources are bound to, to some degree. Important thing is for us to not read stuff too literally or hang off every word, but that does require people to think for themselves a bit, and we know some people can struggle with that.
