  1. Lovely bully-boy tactics. And where is Gordon Taylor whilst this is going on ?
  2. Well, the FL must be deliberately leaving things nebulous because a team with such a high profile as DFCSB FC going out of business is a serious negative image issue. In my book the shennanigans underway simply violate the spirit of the measures that were handed out and are detrimental to the image of the game, which should be enough for the FL to take action, but they are either scared or impotent. They also seem to be sticking their head in the ground about the probability of us all being back here again in 18months, with more people diddled of their livelihood. The PFA's lack of presence here is a more serious issue; in my eyes they are completely failing some of their members.
  3. I was totally unimpressed with her demeanour during the opening, and thought her opening speech was as short as it possibly can be and was delivered in a terse manner. But she has had a helluva year and is 86, FFS, so I will cut her as much slack as is required. She is our Queen, after all.
  4. This. They are running a mockery of the spirit and rules of the game. The PFA and FL should be utterly ashamed of their complicity.
  5. Cavendish ? We do really well when we are underdogs and no-hopers in situations. and its not just sport. Look at WW2, especially the Battle of Britain, Rorke's Drift and Goose Green for extreme examples. The gymnastics team fit this category. When we are fancied, with high expectations/hopes, we are complete bottle-jobs. And this morning you can add Ben Ainslie and Paul Simpson to the list of those blowing it, which is even more annoying because they have proven records of success but are bottling it in home territory because of weight of expectation.
  6. This, sadly. Too many silly mistakes and nervousness. As I said earlier, we seem to struggle with home-crowd expectations. Murray and Henman probably would have won Wimbledeon if it have been in the Czech Republic. Hang on, thats taking it a bit too far...
  7. Whats the matter with you ? They both admit they blew the 4th dive.
  8. I like the Brian Eno track that provided the back-drop to the pictures of the lost loved ones; it also featured in Danny Boyle's film 28 Days Later.
  9. So, so proud of my nation of birth, and the way it treats those willing to give their lives for its way of life.... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9846565.Troops_guarding_Olympics_sleep_in_a_car_park/ EDIT: Just read the last lines, the MoD is sending an ice-cream van around to them. Why didnt it say earlier, the conditions are therefore sumptuous and we should just STFU...
  10. Irrelevant playground response, indicating an inability to admit that what you wrote was complete b*ll*cks and seeking to take the argument in a totally different direction.
  11. Why do we as a sporting nation choke so badly ? Daley and Waterfield Womens basketball against Canada Murray's choke is already in the post. Paula Ratcliffe at previous Olympics At least Moomintroll gritted her teeth and got her bronze. Do we not take sports pyschology seriously enough, or are we just pooftahs ?
  12. And China is on a massive build-up too. The only good news I see about this is that the US (under Obama) might re-think their planned massive strategic shift of USN assets to the Pacific, and go for a more balanced approach. Also it is time our idiots-in-power remember what a flaky military alliance the rest of Europe has been, that Western security has always been based on the Trans-Atlantic alliance, and that the UK is an island. They should order 2 more Type 45s, kick on with the Type 26 design as a matter of urgency, increasing units planned from 16 to 20, order an 8th Astute, extend Illustrious's out of service date as a helicopter carrier, bring both Albion and Bulwark back into parallel service and sort this f**king carrier design out once-and-for-all (with cats and traps). Then we start to have a credible Navy again. And the funding should finally be freed to qualify the Typhoon to launch Brimstones and we should buy in some anti-shipping missiles.
  13. Stop the Press..... Jackson announces The Hobbitt is to be re-partitioned into a trilogy of films to do the book and background justice. Releases Dec 2012, Dec 2013, Summer 2014. http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/jul/30/peter-jackson-hobbit-three-films
  14. Even will the disgraceful bullying of the players possibly eliminating the concern about point 3, point 2 seems insurmountable unless Chinny has agreed to take point 2 on the chin (pun intended). Is it possible he will agree to point 2 as long as point 3 is eliminated, but he wont accept liability against both ?
  15. Even as one of his usual adversaries on here, I have to give GM credit where its due. Nobody does this sort of trolling better than him. They arent just annoyed, they are incandescent. My compliments, sir..
  16. 4-1 You can shove that Falklands training up your *rse, El Presidente.
  17. All going Pete Tong, isnt it ? Daley and Waterfield throw their gold away.
  18. Its not b*ll*cks, VFTT. Southampton is apparently one of the most violent cities in the UK.
  19. Today. This is going to be peachy. Is that tw*t Zylberberg in the Argie squad ?
  20. Well, everything is relative of course, but I had a major problem with my eldest spending his afternoons in the 2nd junior class watching Disney DVDs in order to "learn morality" so his teacher could do her marking rather than take it home. Also when both my eldest got croup on Christmas Eve and were placed in cubicles at the hospital with blood-stained curtains and floor and WW3 going on with the drunks outside those curtains. I have never seen them look so frightened.
  21. Southampton City Centre could be brilliant - it has got loads of park area. But these areas are somewhat ruined by the fact that at dusk the children running aroundm playing, giggling and screaming, give way to rapists. And the last time I was Above Bar on Saturday night, at the junction with Civic Centre Road and New Road, I thought I had walked into a war zone.
  22. what are you saying then ? That this is all a smoke-and-mirrors act and the DFCSBs cant possibly survive past 10 August ? My birthday is the 11th. I will tell my missus to take the Star Wars Lego and her kinky nurse costume back to the shops - Pompey going puff in a cloud of smoke is all the birthday pressie I'll need.
  23. Love : I personally think that the South Coast, from Warsash round to Swanage, is the greatest place in the world. I especially like : Victoria Country Park, on a rainy blustery day, looking across at the refinery, the port and the maritme traffic Going down to Lepe and watching the martime traffic on the Solent and looking across to the IOW Bournemouth promenade : with the kids in the summer, with the wife on a Thursday evening in August, when it is buzzing, in April sh*tty weather Walking in the New Forest, going to the sweet shop in Lyndhurst. Oxford Street in the evening at the weekend - going in the Grapes, White Star, going p*ssed with the missus for a giggle in the London Arms, across to Kutis for a curry, then trying my hand in Stanley. So why have I left (twice?) I just cannot bear the idea of bringing 4 kids up there - the hospitals and the schools are sh*t. And everything is filthy. And everything is f**king expensive.
  24. Made a similar point earlier, about what Chinny will do if his bluff is called.
  25. This. Really, this "Plucky Pompey" tripe has to stop, and the rest of football shjould be ostracising them for the cheats, bullies and swindling con-men they are.
