This. Time to close the thread; he's not going to be a Saint any time soon.

All Saints fans should protest about this disgusting slur

Where did you hear that from ? Surely its a civil rather than criminal affair. -

We should just be very grateful that football will soon be rid of that club and its fans.. -
Should Oscar Pistorius be allowed to compete in the Olympics?

I cannot see how anyone can even consider his artificial limbs as being a level playing field with fully-limbed athletes. So the answer has to be no. -
He has it in him to be a good player, and did well this evening. There doesnt seem to be any interest in him from other clubs. He came in from the cold in the spring time and did alright for a couple of games, but disappeared again. Is he worth committing one of our 25 squad places to or not ???

I'd go along with this, R. NC is a typical European businessman (compared to the exploitative rip-off mentality of British and American businesses), dont buy what you cant afford, and carrying on his late bosses phillosophy of fair business activity. He might have got Davis cheaper after a protracted legal action which might have costs involved, but he has acted swiftly to make sure both sides are happy. Nice one (though Everton et al. might not be too chuffed at the precidence he has set for their players...)

You read the link. The spokesman for the Scottish PFA has said she expects the others to go through. In English that means they arent through yet.

Trying to wonder why there is any expectation from Team GB. They are a mongrel that has been cobbled together at short notice and with plenty of controversy, playing settled teams from other FAs.
-
Exactly, I took that as Davis's clearance not being done yet.
-
Wow, cheerleaders.

Birch is now saying that if those 8 senior players dont leave, DFCSB cannot start the season. He is also indicating there is no interest in them (why should there be, they will be FREE in 2 weeks time...). It really is 23:59 for Pompey...

Are they actually singing "Saints" ?

Adam who ?

Any of our boys there ?
-
Yeah, but not for our player yet. Meanwhile, the SFA have made it clear that a precondition of Rangers membership is that they accept all punsihments meted out to oldco Rangers - meaning a transfer embargo in January and next summer. Therefore, we can expect Rangers to dig their heels in even harder about letting Davis go...

FFS. I am ashamed to be British at the moment.

He's very young, and GKs are the sort of position where the best keepers are older and experienced. Are we really expecting him to be #1 before Kelvin and any 3rd keeper to still come in to be his junior, or is the main event still to happen ?

I have noticed in recent times just how bad the articles from supposed quality national papers have been getting in terms of accuracy and speling. About the only paper where I have seen no decline is the Guardian, much as I dislike its politics.

And according to McDermott today, they are finished. LeFondre's goals at SMS still smart a bit, though.

New Signings replacing established players
alpine_saint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I understand the strategy at club-level; I was more thinking about the emotion of the players being replaced. It must be tough, having helped a team to fulfill its dream of a return to the PL, only to discover that you may not be valued enough to play a major role in staying there. My son is just stepping up from U12 (9-a-side playing full-width but only up to the penalty areas length-wise) to U14 (full game), and I am trying to gently prepare him that with him being officially U13 (but there is no U13 league) and not having played the full game before, he is going to spend a lot of time on the subs bench or worse this season, but that it will be his turn again next season when he is a real U14 player, and trying to keep him motivated for training. Seems to me to be a similar set of emotions. -
I think the reason no-one had answered with a short, definitive "Target x" answer, is that the question is a very tough one to answer.

Something I've always wondered about. A club make a new signing, Player A, who plays in a given position. The established club players, B and C, who play in that position - how do they react ? Do they sulk, and tw*t Player A ? Do they immediately get on the phone to their agent and instruct him to find another club ? How many really buckle down and determine to make Player A second-choice, and how realistic is it to change a managers perspective on this when he has to justify having just spent several million quid on Player A ? So far this window we have Clyne coming in with some sort of promise of first team football, J-Rod giving more competition for places up front, and hopefully Davis to put the cat-among-the-pigeons with the central midfielders. And Kelvin must be wondering what the f**k his standing will be come mid-August. Anybody with interesting anecdotes about the dynamic at times like these ?

Very bad news for Richardson and Butterfield.

No need for sarcasm. I love the US from my visits, and I think the Orgeon/Washington State areas are gorgeous, and I also like the Utah area, but people who want to move need to think of more than scenery, especially if they have family. I probably would have gone if I were single and childless.

I think NA and NC should forget Büttner and focus on GK, CB and CM additions.
