Whats the point in the biggest aircraft carriers in RN history without escort vessels to protect them ? We should go back to a requirement of 12 Type 45s. The UK is an island nation that subs nearly starved twice in the last century, FFS. I would cancel our F35 commitment, rework 80-odd Typhoons for a navalised version and change the config of the carriers to CATOBAR (already planned for in their design) I would transfer the Fleet Air Arm and helecopter fleet to the RAF rather than do away with the RAF. I agree with doing away with heavy tanks, but the small mobile ones and the APCs should stay. We dont need Trident. We could fulfill the job with gravity bombs and cruise missiles. I'd rather the RN got 4 more Astutes. Oh, and the chief of the defence staff should always be RN. Stirrup was an embarassment.

The attitude on this thread is bizarre. I have a gut feeling about how things will go and it gets ridiculed by the same people who criticise my apparent self-opinionatedness... I'll wager some people arent even reading what I wrote properly...

Call it instinct. I am feeling totally underwhelmed about the way we are going about preparing for this season. I think its caused by the inability to keep Antonio or Papa and not having got another CM. Strangely, although the RB need was probably more critical, I never felt that would be an issue.

Its a reasonable point, but the simple fact is we hammered a lot of teams last year but had too much to do because of the points deduction and poor start. This year was all about maintaining our superiority on the field, which combined with a flying start would ENSURE promotion. Its clear to me that the flying start is NOT going to materialise. Therefore we are back in the lottery, hoping everything works out OK rather taking our destiny in our own hands. Everyone was clear, including AP, about the importance of pre-season preparation and a flying start.

It says quite clearly at the top of the article that its "tongue-in-cheek" They know their place in the heirarchy of things on the South Coast really...

Why is it rubbish ? Its exactly what happened on several occasions, and as of now we have no indication that its been dealt with.

It has to be earned. Cautious tactics and an inate inability to go to crapholes and unlock teams intent on playing for a draw, or mugging a win on the counter attack is, not earning it.

Nope, you have missed the point completely, my friend.... I said the most important thing is how we start the season. If we start sh*te, NC will get rid of AP while he has the chance to make a change and still mount a half-decent promotion campaign. Nobody wants it to happen, but it will if we have a sh*te start, seeing as conventional wisdom is of the opinion that AP only just kept hold of his job at the end of the season.
