  1. Depends largely on attendances at SMS between now and then, I would suggest. The attendance for the Birmingham match does not augur well...
  2. Au contraire. Burley's track record demonstrates a tendency to quit and walk out if pushed too much from above. Anyway, I for one am glad JP speaks with much more ambition and positiveness. I was calling for this all along from the ex-manager.
  3. So why was he happy to set himself that target ? A supposedly experienced manager who we must assume had some pride and ambition ? Surely any manager should do his damnedest to stretch himself and over-achieve. We had a promotion-standard squad that he made look pretty ordinary, imo.
  4. Of course it is, but it's human to illustrate the contrast to the previous managers.
  5. How about inferring Redknapp was a bad as Burley because of £4M he would have spent on Andy Reid (but didnt), for starters ??? Oh, and "pie man" Reid totally bossed the midfield in the Saints v Charlton game last season, against Burley "luminaries" such as Idiakez, Wright and Viafara... And blaming Jim Hone for buying expensive turkeys, when actually the manager couldnt get them to contribute their (perceived) worth, well, that one is really funny, Steve...
  6. Must have missed the bit where he referred to class.... You are obsessed with it, no-one else. Frankly, its getting boring and annoying.
  7. Wow, and people accuse me of having anti-Burley tinted glasses....
  8. I didnt really define "worst", I suppose. Branfoot didnt get us relegated - its just that certain sections of the fan-base didnt like his playing style, a bit like Chelski fans didnt like Avram Grant. Gray and Wigley simply werent up to the job - they werent incompetent, inebriated and disinterested. OK, maybe Redknapp runs Burley close, but I seem to recall Redknapp was only allowed loans and £90K for Fuller. He wasnt given £7M and the chance to build his own squad, either when he took over or at the start of the following season. Burley was thoroughly (over-)indulged by 2 SFC boards.
  9. Suits me, dude. It's some sort of peeing contest anyway.
  10. Erm, with all due respect, SOG took it upon himself to come on here and do Woodwards shouting for him.
  11. I am delighted and very proud of Team GB, their efforts, and those that helped them to achieve it. Woodward can fook off elsewhere and be a hanger-on there. I can just imagine the update of his CV this weekend.......
  12. LOLOLOLOL !!!! Maybe the squad of little Chinese cleaning ladies that served as the room service in the Olympic Village should be nominated for MBEs and for the team award in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. After all, they are associated with Team GB and the success they've achieved.
  13. I've posted about ten times since we won, pretty good considering I've spent most of the intervening time stuck up a mountain. Not that anything would ever stop you posting provocative shiite.
  14. Why ? He has taken the first step to proving himself. I feel sorry for you if you think that once somebody had formed an opinion, that they must take the same stance thereafter for ever more without changing their mind. Have to say though, it shows in your posts.......
  15. Amazing the amount of people coming to this conclusion.......finally. Better late than never, but I am feeling somewhat vindicated as history unfolds. George Burley will be looked back on as possibly the worst manager in SFC history.
  16. Weird............
  17. Let's get a few things straight... The athletes have actually done f**king awful in this Olympics. Also the divers, the hockey teams, and the equestrians were below par. Most our world class performances came in cycling, and that is down a lot to the bloke (I dont recall the name) who took British cycling by the short-and-curlies and transformed it almost single-handedly. I note he is already being head-hunted, according to the BBC. Btw, his name is NOT Woodward. I personally reckon the likes of Seb Coe has done more to pull British sport up by its bootlaces in the extended run up to 2012. EDIT : The previous one who was responsible for the transformation was Peter Keen, the one being head-hunted is the current Performance Director who carried on his good work, Dave Brailsford.
  18. Come on mate, as if any of the "hot" issues will be put to him by Leitch, let alone be answered. If you read the article, the get-out clause stands out bold-as-brass.
  19. How ironic that many of the people preaching the wisdom of "giving it time, we wont go down" after the Birmingham and Cardiff results, are coming out with comments about telling potential investors to go f**k off with their pots of cash, now that we have beaten the most demotivated, disinterested and badly performing team in the division............ Fans from all sides of the spectrum appear to me to be equally fickle and hypocritical......
  20. A pity that similar sense of justice and professional courtesy was not extended to Nigel Perason...........
  21. Yep, Mr Fullthorpe, please scrap your plans of investing money in our club even though its broke and could be in administration in 3 months time, just because we beat the team with the worse run of form in the league by one goal...
  22. Lowe can win with me by returning us to the Premiership with good football and by keeping his fat arrogant mouth shut to the press in the meantime. Sorry, I am dead chuffed with yesterdays events, but I am not willing to be a gushing sycophant on the back of one result. And with all due respect to you Rich, and to Hacienda, my comments are hardly more controversial than many others on this thread.
  23. Yes. We've won one game. It's still too early to make this judgement. If we start showing genuine promise, the club is still very weak and vulnerable to big clubs coming along and cherry-picking not only the players but also the manager. Keeping a successful squad together is going to be as big a challenge as making the squad perform in the first place.
  24. In fairness, I've just got back from being away this weekend and I have to say the baiting/goading on this thread is much less prevalent than I expected. However, as you say, there always a few saddos who really geuinely believe that those of us that dont share their unequivocal optimism must secretly want Saints to lose, and therefore think they are annoying us by the baiting and goading, when actually we are as happy as them.
  25. Been unable to post for the last 24 hours, I am away for the weekend with the kids. Oustanding result, outstanding performance, sweet revenge at last. A team is bigger than the sumof its parts. If JP can really give us a TEAM for the first time since the FA Cup Final, then maybe we are going places. The only thing missng was the second and third goals to make it comfortable, but it seems Carroll played a blinder. Well Done Saints Well Done JP. Let's follow this up by thumping Blackpool. How come Saints only seem to have balls when Killer is playing ?
