Personally I'm very relieved we haven't given a player that old a contract that long. I reckon it will look like a decent enough deal for them in the first year and a waste of money in the second 2.

We had Austin, Long, J Rod, Boufal, Redmond and Tadic. 6 players after 3 positions, not to mention Sims, Hesketh and a couple of other young players trying to make an impact. We had the right number of players, they were just all crap. If Long, J Rod and Boufal hadn't all been useless we'd never have signed Gabbi.

I would guess not, I reckon Gabbi and Gallagher are the replacements. That said I wouldn't be upset to see Long and/or Austin leave if we could get someone better/fitter in.

Doubt he's on a massive contract and it's only got a year left. If I were him I'd take a short term pay cut if there was a decent offer on the table. Another year playing for our kids and he'll be largely forgotten about, even back home.

You can forget anyone decent in the Prem, with the money going around they are going to have absurd asking prices on their heads. The only possible exceptions are unwanted kids at big clubs. The likes of Ake, Christensen or Januzaj might be on the menu, although still wont be cheap.

I was in exactly the same boat until very recently; young, earning a very decent wage and living in a tiny one bedroom flat in Bristol. At what age do you think people should be able to buy a home?

This is what I'm afraid of. Jack for Gardos I'm more than happy with but for me this is too much of a drop in quality and experience. If we get a couple of injures, would you really be happy with JS and JB playing together? Even as back up that's far too weak.
