It should be obvious by now that this is the big one. Once people get over how heartbreaking and tragic the suffering is going to be. Start doing a mind game with the economy. The world will not be the same when this is all over. We're moving into a 1-2year war economy as it is. But so many industries will be wipe out in the next 2 months, let alone 5 months or a year of this.

It's going to kill hundreds of thousands in the UK unless a miracle happens and we get its spread under control.

Les Reed should be held in lower esteem than Lowe. Said that for years and will keep saying it. We need another generous benefactor now.

If you want to see whats going on in Italy, then listen/read the audio in this article by ITV. https://www.itv.com/news/2020-03-11/italy-doctors-coronavirus-covid-19-quarantine-milan-health/ Italy has 827 died, and 1045 recovered at the time of writing. Reasonable to assume that those numbers cover the hospital admissions (excluding those that haven't run their course). Safe to say you do not want to wind up in hospital with this.

Exciting times. Hopefully we get a new owner before the noose tied by Reed and KL drags us to the depths. Dark dark day in the club's history when those two ousted NC. Lets hope a throw on owner roulette saves our club and take us back to the top of our momentum curve challenging for Europe! Sadly, it looks like we're skint, with terrible finances (thanks to Kat and Reed), and have an owner with no dosh... if we aren't taken over we're on an accelerated course for 2009 all over again... and without the great academy and shiny new stadium that Lowe left us. -
Is Armstrong actually out? Haven't seen an actual link to this?
-
Agreed. Utter madness. If he leaves, it will be on the cheap. Its almost like our fans think that there is a wealth of premier league standard box to box midfielders out there for us to sign at cheap prices... If there is, we've done a terrible job tapping into the market since Morgan left... When fans start wishing one of our better calibre players (and captain) leaves (and not for a good price), you really have to question the sanity of this forum.

Death rate in Hubei Provence is sitting at 7% from 43k cases (https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6). And China has been widely praised for their treatment and response to the virus, and highlighted as providing better targeted medical care than most western countries. You can't judge this virus on anything other than cases that have run their course. With time, a sufficient sample size will develop to provide an accurate figure. At the moment there isn't a sufficient sample size in western countries. And no, you cannot take the diamond princess as a guide because that is a very specific scenario. The numbers are the numbers ultimately. Wait and see what happens with them but don't moan at me for presenting them in their simplest form

Britain's Next Top Prime Minister - Labour Leadership Election 2020.
Saint86 replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
Both of them are totally out of touch with everyday voters are are unfit to be prime minister I would moan about having such a weak opposition, but society has created this state of affairs and allows to continue. Best hope the Tories actually a decent job as they are here to stay baring a seriously bad f.up. -
I don't overly disagree. However the only real analysis anyone can do at this stage is look at cases that have run their course - either terminal or recovery. And then gauge the survival rate from that. If its accurate then the rate will scale with time until sufficient cases have run their course that the change in survival rate flatlines.
-
I didn't sadly. Upto 107 now. Hopefully there are a vast swathe of cases that went diagnosed throughout Christmas / January and the figures being reported are much worse than the actual statistics.

Highly informative (if somewhat morbid) link: https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6 Of particular interest is that of the 240cases that have run their course in Italy to date, 80 have died, 160 survived. Similar ratio's exist in France with 4 dead and 12 having survived so far. Whilst that's a worst case based probably on those with other health complications sadly unable to cope with the added immune stress, its still a rather alarming rate for developed countries.

People's inability to correctly use commas in lists is nigh on unforgivable.

I am going to this (in the home end) with a bunch of mates. One is a West Ham fan obviously, but the others are Arsenal and Gillingham/Chelsea (pure glory supporting filth). All in all, it should be a good laugh if Saints win, we've been giving the hammer fan a lot of stick as the season's gone on. All that said and done, I have never enjoyed a west ham vs saints game... still haunted by the 4-1 in our first season back up (same mates, also in the spammers end), and the 9year old skin head jumping up and down next to me wanting to have a scrap when lallana scored! Heart says 3-1 saints, head says it will be a 1-1 draw.

Article in Guardian on PL club finances and borrowing inc Saints
Saint86 replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Les Reed and co basically sold us down a river. Have to hope Ralph sticks around, because without him I would really fear for the club. -
Just to opine. His through ball for Ings (which he subsequently powered over Lloris to hit the bar) was a thing of true beauty. The weight was perfect, beat the defence and the keeper.

Conversely, I'd say Bale has utterly wasted his potential. Should have been the next contender for GOAT... But in reality he settled as a borderline peripheral figure at Real, constantly on the edge of manager/fan favouritism. Such a waste from a player who was more unplayable that Prime VVD. On top of that, what do you think players like VVD, Mane, Lallana, Shearer, Bridge etc etc have done with their careers...?

Can I just say, a big thanks to everyone who shares their stream links. It is much appreciated.

So, bertrand on his way?

I have to say, VAR did us some massive favours against Leicester. Those linesman didn't flag a thing, thank god we had a video assistant referee to save the game for saints.

They've behaved rather poorly but frankly that's their business. Hopefully this means they are effectively no longer considered as "part" of the royal family and the taxpayer can stop paying upkeep for them in perpetuity. Good timing for the old Lady as well, first Andrew and then her "grandson" sticks the boot in via the press
