Some very transparent and suspiciously biased posters on the Fonte discussion threads. Odd that some posters seem to have such loyalty for the club / Reed that they will still even now actively seek to discredit any negative press aimed at those decisions. Its beyond a joke that we let him go given the wages and money Reed has gone on to waste on other players. Ditto Koeman and ditto numerous others. Reed absolutely dismantled the club we were on course to be and stole a very exciting future from all of us and future generations. And spare me from another Reedist trying to give credit to Reed for the promotion team (as was done in the other thread), he wasn't even at the club when that core was signed

Did you listen to the interview? Reed leaked a fabricated story to the papers that Fonte had handed in a written transfer request.
-
How much proof do the Reedists still need that he actively used press stories to discredit players and managers and push his agenda. The man hamstrung the club's potential at potentially the most pivotal time in our history. He should be more hated than Lowe for me. At least Lowe transformed the stadium and youth setup. Reed robbed all of us (and future generations) of reaching our potential, dismantled the fan's bond with the players, and saddled us with a journeyman squad and horrendous finances.

Yeah i like him, but using those stats to justify it is of limited value, and he does give the ball away at critical times. No denying that either. Never fails to amaze me how a reasoned opposing point of view gets treated with such disdain on this place. Especially since your disdain (and apparent judge of ability between JWP and PEH is misplaced. I also checked the stats myself. https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/total_tackle James Warde Prose is 10th in the league of all players (and positions) for tackles. PEH is 12th. With respect to fouls, PEH and JWP are equal 5th. Neither of them feature particularly highly for headers. JWP is 28th for interceptions, (Bednarek is 6th), PEH is 25th (with 2more than JWP) https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/interception No need to compare attacking stats such as chance creation, goals, assists etc....

Do we know how much they're overspending by at the moment? I was reading about the Sunderland documentary and there were some disparaging comments aimed their way re overspending relative to the current league.

So has anyone actually heard anything remotely concrete about Gao selling and an interested party? -

Exactly. The cancers at the top have gone. I would welcome koeman at the club again. It's a shame he left and not les and Co. Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk -
Seriously?!?! We've been in lock-down for 40odd days and you still haven't grasped why we're doing it... Please tell me you aren't one of these people that thinks the rules don't apply to them?! Everyone should be wearing masks when they're out and about as well tbh. The government are going to bring that it when the lockdown is eased, but they aren't making people do it now... talk about hamstringing the efficiency of all the lock-down in reducing case numbers.

“The main reason was that we did not agree about my last year of contract,” Koeman told the BBC. “I mentioned to the club I would like to continue and go into my last year, then during the season we would have time to discuss about the future. “There was no way for the club to do that, they came with the new offer and I was really disappointed about the offer to continue in Southampton. https://m.sport24.co.za/Soccer/EnglishPremiership/poor-contract-offer-behind-southampton-exit-says-koeman-20161117 There was friction between him and the board, and it was a chance to move him on, get paid for it, and not have the club look like the bad guys. Again, standard operating procedure for the club at that time. Just like with every other player than left the club over that period. Always negative PR released to the media. Koeman's points are fully legitimate, and its well known that he wanted to see commitment and ambition from the club, and maintain flexibility to move to Holland or Barcelona. They couldn't just admit that they lacked ambition and/or didn't want to delay for his final contract... The board just decided they wanted him out, painted him as a money grabber and even spreading rumours about lack of youth team utilisation etc... it was an absolute farce retrospectively given we then hired Puel () (binned my season ticket off because i could not face paying to watch that ****), MoPe, and Hughes... not to mention the huge bloated squad of older players that we've tied around our necks and built with the wasted sales of our greatest modern team in nearly 40years. We were ultimately failed by that board. Absolutely hamstrung us at arguably the most exciting time in our history. Worse than Lowe for me. At least he built the academy and stadium. That lot took a superb and bonded squad, dismantled it to remove any semblance of the previous regime, then got very lucky with Koeman and his signings.... but then stripped that squad bare for whatever inept reasons, and took us from the verge of champions league football to relegation contenders in 1 season whilst also crippling us financially despite the Mane and world record VVD sales. Its beyond inept. Imagine if saints actually go bust due to the lockdown. The blame can only lay with that board.

Les and the hierarchy were beyond lucky with Koeman. Pelle, VVD, Tadic, Mane, Toby... Simply epic recruitment. Then look what we did with selling and replacing those players. He was without doubt the best manager we've had in recent times. Rebuilt an entire squad and fan morale, and got saints playing so well i never feared any team and usually expected a result. Then he fell out of favour with our egotistical boardroom monkeys and the rest is history.

I just don't understand what point you're trying to make in reference to the saints takeover? You've just dropped a link to Amnesty International and Qatar protesting the Saudi takeover of Newcastle? whats the bearing on ourselves? I'm not having a go at you, i just don't understand what you're trying to say? -
We play high press football geared towards forcing mistakes from the opposition in the area's PEH plays. We also have quite low possession stats. You put any fit midfielder into our team and they'd have high stats for interceptions/recoveries/tackles etc.

Was there an actual break in the history of Portsmouth; to the point where the old club folded and a new club was established such that they genuinely shouldn't have any of their previous honours etc? Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk

Really? He played for us for one season, and we got relegated.

Comments like this highlight just how extreme the left have become in this country. It shows and utter lack of respect for freedom of speech and our democracy that people advocate serious harm on those that hold opposing views. Sadly there are too many people like the above poster (i see it routinely in Bristol). You Dominic scum, yet the reality is that you have already stooped lower than him simply by expressing this viewpoint. Its a real stain on our society that we've raised intolerant cretins like yourself, and doubly so that you have a platform where you feel you are able to express them without repercussions.

We are going to have a terrible summer. We're already in financial turmoil and lost money from match day tickets and sales due to corona. Not to mention that the Premier League monies for TV appearances will be in jeopardy if the season doesn't finish, or the fact that the club is now running with greatly reduced income at time when it isn't budgeted. Plus ofc, we have the wrong first team players on short contract expries, and Les Read's golden spunk generation of players inflated wages and long contracts. Why anyone would have any enthusiasm about this summer is beyond me. Outside of hoping we get taken over by Red bull!! Sorry to be negative, sign of the times. Feel free to cheer me up
