If it was really was poor judgement and political skills he's been extremely lucky - he can come out of this with his party and his position being markedly stronger than before. BTW - Labour look really quite ****ed here. They've seen a huge swing away from them in Scotland that will probably follow through to next May. They've seen Milliband promise more power to Scotland and Brown make his passionate plea and promise of the same but are now dragging their feet over promising the same in England which could cost the big votes down here too. Ooooops. At least they have a popular, dynamic, inspirational leader....

It was only a matter of time before the inequality of power following Scottish and Welsh devolution brought us to the point where the English demanded similar and the provinces demanded even more. Something, at some point, was going to bring us here, it was inevitable. This isn't Cameron-made, we started down this road under Blair. I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, either. It's definitely no disaster, imo.

He's already promised exactly that for England. This has given him the opportunity that he wanted - nay needed - to do exactly that. Expect to see the English promised more power to control what happens in England without "interference" from the rest of the UK and (true or not) Brussels in an attempt to win support and votes back from UKIP in advance of next May. Far from being "done for" as people suggested here just 2 days ago, Cameron will probably come out of this strengthened both within his party and English (at least) politics.

Alright. I'm not paying though, looks like I'm going to need all my money to pay for the free education of Scotch uni students :-(

Good idea Mikey. Mods, you can close this thread for the moment while we all go and have a cup of tea and wait and see what happens.

Which is where you're going wrong. There is no solution in the event of Scottish independence that is pain-free for all concerned.
-
Entirely agreed - he wins regardless of the result tomorrow. A Yes makes him the master of all he surveys (and the being the arrogant, power-crazed, egotistical cock-wobble that he is, that's what he really really wants) whilsy a No gives him greater powers at the cost of the rest of the UK with no cost to Scotland.
-
Rather Scottish pain than English, Welsh or NIrish though.
-
I'm pretty sure you're not that stupid, so stop being a tit.

Doesn't really matter what the agreement says Codger, in reality the rUK government will do whatever is in the best interests of rUK, not Scotland. The rUK electorate simply won't stand for any excess generosity towards Scotland.
-
No, no - voting Yes is the only to save the NHS - haven't you been told?
-
If the Scots say Yes then the result in itself won't be a defining issue at the next GE but the manner in which they leave and the cost to your average rUK voter absolutely will be. A Yes vote won't do for Cameron, but not playing the hardest of hardballs with them come negotiation time would. It's one of the things the underlines how ludicrous some of the claims of Salmond, Sturgeon et al have been regarding currency union, oil shares etc - any rUK government that doesn't absolutely screw the Scots to the wall and make their balls bleed during the separation negotiations will be hammered at the polling station. Farage and UKIP would milk that for all it's worth and the Tories are already scared enough of losing vote to them next year...

You're now being naive as well as borderline mental. You can't separate the two when the SNP are the driving force behind the campaign for independence and are attempting to convince people to give them the result they want by telling outright, bare-faced lies, and if they get the result they want then no amount of voting them out will restore the benefits of the Union. Once they're gone, they're gone.

How many people who are actually eligible to vote does this guy think he's talking to?
-
If they vote Yes based on the lies of Alex Salmond then they'll get everything they deserve and I'll have very little sympathy for them.

Frogmore Road?

They've doubled their budget already.

Your share certificate should have been inside your programme. Make sure it's there and, if not, then give the Engagement Manager a call.

Top 6 are nailed on, top 7 if Van Gaal sorts Utd out. We're looking at 8th at absolute best but would be fighting it out with a handful of other sides who are all much of a muchness for that position.

Jealous.
