Lonely Southampton pensioner becomes hit on social media

Yeah, and I did offer my seat to a lady on the tube once who was slim but with quite a protruding belly, and my god, did she glare at me! -

Aww, that's a really good deed! -

Ha. You're going to struggle to get many responses to this thread on this forum! But that is a nice story. Without wanting to sound smug, I do nice things all the time! But then there's always someone on the tube struggling with a pram, or looking a bit lost, or an elderly person struggling with the crush so there are probably more opportunities. At work, I get people doing 'not nice' things to me all the time. My boss says I'm too nice. But I've got zero respect for people who behave like sh*ts and I always win out in the end. Nice is definitely the way to go! -
Little Red Riding Hood has been banned?! Flippin eck.

Saints position the day Marty McFly left for the future in 1985.

That's depressing. So how many hours of our lives have we wasted just to watch Saints gain 10 places? -
Eh?! What has the state of Ralph's marriage, or even marriage in general got to do with a question about women in sport? He was asked a serious question, and decided to respond with a joke about how he knows from his marriage it's important to keep women happy. Nudge nudge, wink wink, shoe joke, nagging wife joke, blah blah. You guys might find this funny, but to a woman interested in women in sport, it's pretty patronising. And daft for a guy in a senior position in a football club to attempt a joke like this. Particularly when there has already been criticism about Saints' lack of a woman's footie team. Jeez Ralph, I'm on your side here, please don't make jokes about the wife. Like I said, old school. Bit like you lot really!

Lol. Football forum shocker. Chairman of football club makes dismissive sexist response to serious question about women's football. "Been married 30 years, I know you have to keep women happy." Woman on football forum of 99% men, points out that the response is old school and sexist. Several men on football forum of 99% men, state woman is too precious, PC, getting on high horse. One of which references his wife saying she laughed at it and then said now buy me some more shoes. Good to know this place is consistent!

I guess the question is, what on earth has referencing his wife got to do with a question about women's sport, rather than to make a sweeping statement about women in general with not so subtle references to the good old 'nagging wife' joke. He clearly pitched the joke well for the likes of you. Just a shame he ****ed the likes of me off in the process. Silly Ralph.

At least I thought he said that, but now I can't find the clip. In this one (3:10) he said he had a sore back and we'll have to see in next couple of days...

Koeman said he'll be back next week...

Ah, that explains a lot. Thanks for the context, Tim.

It's hard to read, never mind take seriously an article so loaded with hatred for the West, the USA, and the western media, and with so little empathy for the people of Syria.
-
Jesus sh*t, scary scary stuff. I don't understand how anyone can be championing the Russians as saviours in this absolutely tragic situation in Syria right now.

Thanks Verbal for reminding me about Nick Cohen's 'What's Left'. I'd bought it years back, and had dipped in and out of it but not really read it properly. Now after a thorough rereading, I'm very impressed. It's an enormously compelling and important book. More relevant now than it's ever been, whether to conversations about Corbyn and the far left, or about the Middle East.

That's great!!

I like his play, but he's no Mane.

England not playing too bad for a change! Good to see the four Southampton players looking strong...
