If you like a big band/funky sound, you'll like Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears
-
That was fun, I enjoyed that! But not a patch on Shakey - his guitar riffs are too derivative. Great live preformance though!
-
Oh no!! Poor Shane. That is really bad luck on the lad.
-
LOL. Bearsy, I love how you manage to bring a bit of the Muppet show to every forum you post in. Saves me needing to go there!
-
Such a massive sound from one guy - and what a guitarist too!
-
Can't remember if I've ever mentioned Shakey Graves? This guy is gonna be BIG.
-
Really? I love the States, but every place I've been to there is different. But if you love music, then Austin is heaven. I've got a frequent urge to ditch the day job, move out to Austin and be a hippy, playing music for my beer. Sigh. If I ever disappear from Saintsweb, you know where I'll be.

I think Chuck Berry is probably a better source for this. My Ding a Ling for starters!
-
I had assumed "big knob" was a compliment!
-
Not sure being into obscure alt.coutry is that cool, but Austin Texas is definitely the coolest place on earth!
-
Thanks for the recommendation. Sound very interesting, and will save for tomorrow evening. Tonight was the last night of Walking The Nile.

That's exactly my film watching this weekend too (with Casablanca somewhere in between)! Birdman - interesting...dark. But not sure more than that. American Sniper - bland. And reading a bit more about the real guy, also romantic rescript on reality. Casablanca. Brilliant as always.

Damnations TX, Continental Club, Austin TX. 1999.

That could be me! Though her uncertainty on when to clap and when not to is definitely not me. Didn't take you for a Bryl cream, specs and tash man though Goats. But song wise, it's a pretty safe choice. Best Elvis song is That's Alright Mama, and good luck to anyone who dares challenge me on that!
-
Great fact! But oh, what an awful, awful clip of him. Let's at least have the original... http://youtu.be/qka6JrKUM5U

Ok, I overstated the w*nk material bit, I take that back. As a standalone piece, it's not important. What it represents however, is.

Given this is a football forum, my expectation is this debate wouldn't even be on here in the first place!
-
Agree on both counts. Elvis was a wasted talent, but what a rocket he launched in those few years when he was great!
-
Is that true though? Given there a healthy dbate on this forum (a football forum after all!) it would suggest that's not the case. Certainly in my world, I don't know anyone who would put up a defence for keeping page 3. I did a quick google, but not enough to be exhaustive, but this YouGov poll suggests those wanting to remove Page 3 are in the majority. Do you have other evidence? https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/6jyst3v95o/YG-Archive-Pol-Sun-results-021012-Page-3-girls.pdf I'm all for live and let live. But when something on a large scale is having unintended impact on people, you have to sit up and listen. I suspect you've just never experienced the unintended impact, hence the lack of sympathy.

DEVINE! Gives me goosebumps... Night night GB!

That's like saying Shirley Bassey is a great singer... Oh dear, I don't think I'm going to last long on they arts forum. I'm running out of forums!!
-
Well, I'm a singer too, but I have good taste.
-
Oh dear. I thought so highly of you Goatboy! I knew it was too good to be true. Next you'll say you like Queen, and that'll be it. I knew I shouldn't hang out in the arts forum!!
-
Wow, Ths is the first time I've discovered the Arts forum. That said, I'm not a fan of Elvis in the 60s. Poor mans Tom Jones (and Tom was pretty dire iin the first place, let's be honest). Now Elvis 1956... now we're talking. Saw Scotty Moore and DJ Fontana at the Brook a few years back, that was something.

Where's yor Elvis thread?! I love Elvis!
