  1. Your sarcasm is not necessary. How many civil wars, persecutions, examples of religious intolerance, oppressive governments, do we see today ? How much of what we see on the International political stage is driven by greed or "defending our national interests". Military posturing and d1ck measuring contests abound, although outright imperial expansion by intervention and invasion may have been replaced by covert interference in domestic governance or just plain and simple financial and trade domination.
  2. Was discussing a possible GE with my wife today, and the problem we have is that whilst there is no way we could ever vote Tory at the moment, the chances of an LD win in our constituency are extremely slim, as it is a Tory/Labour marginal, and we don't want to give an endorsement to Corbyn.
  3. There is very little evidence of it.
  4. Given the submission to the Scottish court that states BoJo will produce the letter to the EU requesting an extension to the deadline, as required by the Benn Act, any ideas as to what the cunning plan to still deliver Brexit on 31st Oct might be ?
  5. Shock horror: history is full of bad things that happened a long time ago. If the human race showed the capacity to learn from it's prior mistakes, then perhaps we could all live a happier co-existence.
  6. It's a new game based on the skills and laws of cricket, but how many variations on the short form do we need ? There's T20, ( 120 balls per side), and now the Hundred, ( 100 balls per side ). How long before somebody tries to introduce a 60 ball format ?
  7. Is that not more drink related, rather than age ?
  8. May I take this opportunity to apologise to all New Zealanders for the fact that my sister-in-law emigrated there.
  9. And end up filling in the back story with flash-backs.
  10. Looks like Boris's proposals are going down in Europe as well as Teresa May's 'deal' did in the HoC.
  11. Is there anything left that you are too young for it to be legal ?
  12. Shane Warne has just had his 50th birthday.
  13. Has GM hijacked your account ?

  15. It's those nasty Europeans, they want to punish us.
  16. Boris to offer new powers to the Stormont assembly - which hasn't sat in session for three years.
  17. Are any of them even as good as they were when they left, let alone better than what we have ?
  18. The future of the Tories is safe with such visionaries as Esther McVey. She'll drag them into the technological wonderland of the 1990s; https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/housing-minister-esther-mcvey-mocked-for-saying-3d-architects-are-now-building-homes-on-computers-a4250356.html
  19. No need to panic, Greggs are stockpiling pork in case of a no-deal. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-49890034
  20. But under FPTP the opposition votes would be spread, Lab/Lib in England, SNP/Lib in Scotland, and Plaid/Lab in Wales so whilst they might collectively garner a majority of the votes, unless the Brexit bunch significantly split the Tory vote, ( without taking too many from Labour ), the Tories could still end up as the biggest party at Westminster. An electoral pact between the opposition parties, however, might change things in their collective favour.
  21. Always has been, the referendum was only ever about mollifying the right wing of the Conservative party.
  22. Finger
  23. It would be interesting to see how a "semi open" border would work in practice. The official count gives 208 identified crossing points, unofficially estimates put it as high as 275.
  24. What have I told you about politicians' promises.
  25. Ditto with leavers if remain won. Pandora's box was levered open by Cameron, and all the evils released will not be put back inside.
