  1. How many times did BoJo and JRM vote against the WA? On the third vote they were all playing games knowing it would fail again.
  2. Rory Stewart received a text message informing him of his sacking as he was receiving an award as GQ's 'Politician of the year'.
  3. After the bill to block no-deal on Oct 31st been passed. And you seem to be getting your predictions from the BBC news feed.
  4. We won't have a GE called before Oct 31st because the PM has the power to change the date of the vote once it has been called, so Boris could simply shift it to, for instance, Nov 14th, and in the meantime we would leave the EU without a deal by default. This is why today's debate is so important, the deadline must be extended beyond the point to which BoJo could move the polling day.
  5. An opinion you are entitled to, but I suspect that you are in a minority.
  6. Some Labour MPs now trying to revive May's deal !!!
  7. Just for your education, I was made redundant as a result of austerity, so fully understand the impact. Corbyn and McDonnell in power and enacting the vision described this week in the FT would be as much a fiscal disaster as a no-deal jump off the precipice.
  8. His speech was brilliant.
  9. Ken Clarke, "I'm sure that North Korea thrives from trading solely under WTO rules".
  10. Government advice is that cars entering Eire from NI should show a GB sticker. However, NI is not in GB.
  11. Given the debate in the Commons, this seems to be the UK's negotiating position;
  12. Watching JRM I suddenly had a vision of Neville Chamberlain.
  13. paintpot
  14. I don't think Jennie Rigg is an MP.
  15. I didn't make a direct comparison, I said that there are some parallels, which there are, as I listed. How far removed are we from a far right, or far left, Government, either Corbyn's revolutionaries or a UKIP inspired amalgum of Farage's cronies and the right wing of the Tories, such as the ironically named Francois ?
  16. Boris has just lost his majority as Dr Philip Lee MP resigns the Conservative Whip and joins the LibDems.
  17. "World's a mess, examples"; The above group of posts, from #25 on.
  18. I watched the first episode of "Rise of the Nazis", and some of the parallels between political activism in Germany in the late 1920s/ early 1930s and the UK in the last 4 years were worrying. Obviously we haven't got armed paramilitaries walking round, but with the ( verbally ) aggressive entrenchment towards both extremes of the political spectrum, the manipulation of Parliamentary process, and the increasingly overt xenophobia spouted by some, I can't see any chance of a "healing process" any time soon.
  19. Wes, on TV last night they showed a group of Brexit supporters shouting "you're not British any more" at a group of pro-EU demonstrators. Do you agree with them ? ( Most of the playground antics on here, from both sides, are pathetic, but probably only reflect what our politicians have been doing for at least the last 5 years ).
  20. We haven't left, and may well still not do so. In the meantime, the Casino Capitalists will always find ways to make money out of any situation.
  21. And 10 years ago it was below 5000, this graph provides nothing to any argument regarding the Brexit vote.
  22. I'm sanguine about being a "traitor" or a "quisling", particularly as the use of the latter shows a complete lack of understanding of historical context. Somebody suggesting remain voters be strung up by piano wire is taking it down to the depths of the lowest sewer, and shows such individuals up for the fascist thugs they pretend not to be.
  23. Dominic Cummings considers fresh negotiations with the EU to be a sham, so what was Boris doing when he asked for our negotiators to be allowed to get on with their work ?
  24. Which is worse, Corbyn in Downing Street or no-deal Brexit ? Personally I'd prefer to avoid both.
