Led by Donkeys have projected Boris' s "We are going to make a Titanic success of Brexit" quote onto the side of the Titanic museum in Belfast.

Prime steak on the hoof vs a load of old bull.

Assuming we get beyond Oct 31st it will be interesting to see how " do or die" is excused. However, let's not get complacent over Boris's capabilities or his political future. The Tories are still the largest party in Parliament, Labour only look organised when viewed in the light of the Conservatives, and FPTP allied to constituency boundaries tends to favour the Tories in England. The next election will be a single issue poll, ( an issue on which Labour is completely muddled ), and this is a very poor basis for electing what in theory is the Government for the next 5 years, and it is possible that the general discontent with the political class would lead to a low turnout, which I suspect would also favour the Tories. He won't be bog snorkelling just yet.

[h=2]Here's one for GM; "The pound soars to a one-week high after Remainer MPs forced Boris Johnson to seek a further Brexit delay if he cannot agree a deal with Europe"[/h] "...UBS analysts said a delay to Brexit until January 2020 and an election after October could push the pound as far as $1.30, a four-month high." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7430969/The-pound-soars-one-week-high-possible-Brexit-delay.html

And with the prorogation there would probably not be enough time to pass it . That's assuming enough of the 'simple' are around to provide majority, given we have a minority government.

Float like a bee, sting like a butterfly.

Somebody has to be, as many others seem to view it as inconsequential.

No, as that was what Boris was offering. However, as previously pointed out, once Parliament has been dissolved in advance of a GE, the PM can arbitrarily change the polling date without having to consult or gain approval.
-
Would the DUP continue to support him IF the consequence was a hard border ?
-
He would have to win a majority without any Scottish MPs.

Just shows you, 2 people viewing a coin from different sides : one sees the head, the other sees the reverse.

When you walk away from a negotiation you go back to where you were before you started. You don't throw everything you currently have away. And if Boris WAS actually doing any negotiating, he might have a chance of achieving something.

Ken Clarke voted for May's Withdrawal Agreement each time it was presented.

Ignore the blindingly obvious if it isn't what you want to see.

Don't presume my level of knowledge or understanding. Of course no-deal will hurt the EU, but they are looking to protect their internal markets and existing trade deals, so are balancing these 2 issues. We, on the other hand, are threatening to dissolve ALL of our existing trade deals, with nothing to replace them other than WTO rules, which currently no country in the world solely trades under.

Highlights of the last couple of days, Ken Clarke showing that polite statesmanship has not yet died out, and Jess Phillips apologising in advance for not using "Parliamentary language" before laying into the Tories.

How does threatening to commit suicide win concessions from someone you are "negotiating" with ?
-
Corbyn neatly sidestepped BoJo's "elephant trap". Once Parliament has been dissolved in advance of a GE, for instance set for Oct 15th, the PM is free to reset the date, for instance to Nov 14th, without anybody being able to prevent this, thus the GE would move to beyond Boris's no-deal deadline. Absolutely nobody trusts Boris to keep his word.

11. EU reject his fantasist proposals 12. Hard border for NI 13. Scots Nats win Indyref2

The Queen's consent is a bit of set dressing, as a constitutional monarch her actions are prescribed and immutable.

Armando Ianucci has said that Parliament is currently far more 'off the wall' than any Thick Of It script he might produce.
-
Boris and his advisors cooked up a secret plan to slide no-deal in by the side door, and it hasn't worked. The prorogation is a ruse, pure and simple, and it has been slapped down because the opposition parties have found common cause, and a way to work together. That is what can happen to a minority Government. Bercow isn't breaking the rules, he just fails to interpret them in a manner that suits those looking to bypass Parliamentary scrutiny and accountability, much like the filibustering currently underway in the House of Lords.

What now o wise one ?

It's the self proclaimed moron's only debating tactic.
