How can you compare the measures taken to capture a fugitive to martial law being used by one party states?

I think it is marvellous that Verbal is back not because he bashed you but because he enhances the quality of debate on the lounge. If you are Rick Astley then he is Bono. I think he is guilty of being a little paranoid thinking that conspiracy theories are somehow the tool of the right to stir up hatred. When you have millions and millions of people then you will inevitably have different viewpoints from those that look at events from a different angle and those that wish to attract attention. Conspiracy theories are generally quite interesting and thought provoking - taking the official line is rather North Korean. You are wrong because you are unable to differentiate between Martial law used to suppress the people and Martial Law used to protect the people. Measures taken by the Government would more than likely have been supported by everyone in Boston. I have been a bit hard. I generally enjoy your take on life even if I normally disagree with it.

It goes against the grain for people to earn out of charity. Traditionally people who had made good retired to put something back. Today it is now just a nice little earner for someone. I never give to any of the high profile charities just to local ones. I notice that David Miliband has gone to work for a charity - $280,000 a year.

If the coal industry was still functioning today it would be full of Polish miners because the miners would not work for the same terms and conditions. Don't get me wrong I recognise the tragedy of the pit villages but in part they were let down by their leaders. So confrontational instead of practical. Wilsoin had full unemployement, so did the Soveiet Union but ultimately you have to create wealth.

Viable I am sure, so was Leyland until the Unions made it impossible to produce good quality, competitively produced cars on time.

She actually liberated the rest of the country from being held to ransom by the Unions. More people benefited than lost and thats why she won three elections.

I would suggest that it is her enemies that are far more obsessed with her. She sorted out the unions who held back the rest of the country. They made our manufacturing base uncompetitive and ultimately unviable. Who was going to invest in British manufacturing in the late 70's when the Unions ran the show? For that reason you can put much of the blame for the demise of our manufacturing on the Unions. She is having a high profile funeral because the British people voted her in three times.

It discouraged people away from and drove them away. Why is it wrong to compare debt to Greece? What about Spain, Italy, Ireland, Portugal? What do all this markets have in common? What is the root cause of their problem? and you are advocating we go down the same route? So how come the Poles all found work?

Do you really believe that - just keep on spending and things will come right.... just like they have in Greece If you dispute my belief that taxing people takes away their incentive to work look to France and what the 75% tax has done to their economy. All the brightest and entrepreneurial people and a few celebs have moved away. I don't generally subscribe to 'research' - I look at the figures - the 50% tax on high earners drove people away and did not raise much money. Again it is quite straight forward - you are better to have 25% tax of a billion than 40% tax of half a billion. The Welfare state enabled Mick Philpot to not do a day's work for twenty years. It is why when the Polish came they had so many jobs to fill - they took the jobs that the welfare dependent could not be bothered to do.

You have to generate wealth before you can spend it. The trouble with the left is that they do not believe that people should be able to keep the money that they generate so they take away the incentive to make it. The Nation then becomes poorer as a result. I do understand what you are trying to say I just have a definition of investment in the future. At what point do we stop investing? Another 100billion? Perhaps 200 billion? What do you think?

I am afraid I do not buy into this 'investing in the future'. Actually all we are doing is borrowing to such an extent that our children and grand children will have to pay it off. Do you really believe that there is this sort of Nania around the corner where we will all be affluent again.We are seeing a shift in wealth from the West to the East. I believe that people should spend their money not governments and that low tax economies attract business and generate wealth.

Quite right. It is quite simple you spend what you can afford. Where we probably differ is I would say that you then have a low tax economy that attracts lots of business and entrepreneurs to create wealth to increase spending.
