No but without knowing the circumstances I am not ruling out that I would have done. I certainly would not have left it unlocked but if I could see the apartment from my table and others were going back regularly as was I then I might have done. Obviously now I would not.

Well in fairness if you ask my children they will tell you that I am a very good parent. What I am saying is that you cannot judge the McCanns as easily as that without understanding the context. I will not let my children have a motorbike when they are 16 I won't let them take passengers until they are 21 - does that make parents who do bad parents?

I can honestly say that I might have, with a group of friends when the children were asleep have gone out for a pizza only fifty or sixty yards away if I had become complacent and the others were doing it - although it would have been very border line. Like the McCann's I would have checked regularly but the one thing I would have not done is left the apartment unlocked.
-
They were on holiday within a few hundred yards of their apartment, others in their group were going back regularly to check, it felt quite contained they just got complacent and they have certainly been punished for that.

Why is there such a witch hunt against them? Could anybody have worked harder to find their daughter than them? It is a tragedy that all parents dread.

Are any members of SaintsWeb household names?

I might need to correct my assessment after today - but some bushes have not delivered. Nature is a funny thing.

There have been better years but there are still some about. I think you can drink after three months but you are better to wait for longer. Other suggestions are always welcome - I put raspberries in and that seemed to deliver

That is what the Daily Mail did but in a tactless way. Miliband talked of his Father's influence and inevitably that would lead to debate on his politics.

Where did I say that and how do you know what newspapers I read? I just find it ironic that on a thread that questions the taste in speaking ill of the dead you chose to join the condemnation with your choice of Avatar.

With your avatar I cannot help but chuckle at the hypocrisy. Left or right it offends the British sense of fair play

My sympathy for Ed is diluted by his associations with McBride and the fact that he put power before his relationship with his brother. That said I think it was a pretty tasteless means of attack from the Daily Mail - but then I am not a politician

A victory for common sense and defeat for the jobsworth.

I lost a good friend of mine recently. Drowned falling of his boat. I got him this amazing wreath in the shape of a large lifebuoy for the funeral. Its what he would have wanted.

Extraordinary decision to look for the penalty when you have rounded the keeper!

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
Sergei Gotsmanov replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
In the old days people blindly followed what their religious leaders told them. Today people seem to be blindly following what scientists are telling us. As with religion I generally ere in the sceptical camp but still respect the motives of both religious leaders and scientists but recognise there is always some self interest present. -

Back in the seventies they were telling us we were entering a new ice age. Over population and our national debt are at present a far more serious threats to our children and grand children way of life. That said, if the predictions were more accurate then I would demand action and would be more inclined to worry. -

One would acknowledge that forecasting is not a precise science but they seem to be totally off the mark and that is the issue. If I could feel the symptoms then I would be the first to go to the Doctor. It is idiots like me that need to be persuaded and that is the problem; the symptoms we are told are not evident at a local level. This is not a right and left issue or should not be. -

This graph is showing growth for the surface of the earth in the last 15 years does this contradict the report? Anyway the point I am making is not that I am saying there is no global warming I merely expect for the argument to be convincing for predictions to should ring true. If the argument is that convincing then they should be able to forecast to a reasonable extent what will happen in the next ten years and they cannot. It is not just that they cannot they are often spectacularly wide of the market. -

Well that would seem to prove your point but when was this graph put together?
