The Press Box - Episode 1 - Next manager discussion
Bewildered replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
If they did discuss candidates for the job, the club decided they didn't want names being named on official club media and edited it out. It was just more of a general discussion about the club, how attractive a proposition the Saints job is and how disappointed all the journalists were with Koeman. -
All a bit West Ham for me. Is Kat's son old enough to start a twitter?
-
Why discuss something Pellegrini et al on official club youtube channel before the club has made an appointment?
-
Unimpressed. The definition of also-ran.
-
He's going to throw the final group match? Simple then, just look for the coach that plays a striker in goal and a goalkeeper up front.
-
Now would be a good time for K billy to come in and tell us that we won't be seeing Walter Zenga take the job.
-
Walter Zenga...let's look at his dazzling CV Brera Calcio Naţional Bucureşti Steaua Bucureşti (won league title and made uefa cup last 16, then got fired for bad results) Crvena zvezda (won the serbian league cup double) Gaziantepspor (Failed, 5 wins in 17 then quit so he could run off to the middle east) Al-Ain (sacked after 5 months) Dinamo Bucureşti (lasted 2 months0 Catania (Did OK, but no more than that) Palermo (sacked for poor results) Al-Nassr. (sacked for bad results) Al Nasr SC Sampdoria (sacked for poor results) Al-Shaab (left by mutual consent after bad results) If we hire this guy, he will last 3 months at best.

Not sure that is the sort of deal we would go for. I can't see us paying £15m for a 30 year old.
-
Like most Portuguese players with any promise, he has a massive release clause in his contract. I think his is around £35m.
-
The second season he was bankrolled at bit (he spent a similar amount to what we were spending in the Cortese days in the PL)., but the following season the club had to sell a load of players and was only allowed to 800,000 of the sales, which were 45m or thereabout and still led Malaga to 6th place and a CL Quarter final, only going out because Dortmund scored two injury time goals.

1. Pellegrini 2. Puel 3. Pereira

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/17/manuel-pellegrini-on-southampton-manager-shortlist/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Claude Puel, Vitor Pereira and Manuel Pellegrini currently on the shortlist. Pellegrini has allegedly given signals that he would be interested in the job. However, it states that the club are exploring all options so that list may not be final. Also says that there were talks with Garcia, but the club no longer consider him an option. Club wants manager that plays high pressing football, a history of brining through young players and European experience. Also says Redmond deal to be confirmed early next week.
-
He did his bit, especially good vs the better teams even if he did have a bad habit of being complacent and lacking concentration against weaker sides. Thing is 11m is probably the sort of money we will pay to replace him, but with his contract situation it was going to be difficult to get much more than that.

Strange though, despite the tweet from this guy, the only mention of this story on L'equipe's website is just a report that says he's the favourite and cites The Sun as it's source. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Rudi-garcia-vers-southampton/695819
-
Rudi Garcia, frank de Boer or Claude Puel. If that is the final 3 on the shortlist, then I wouldn't be opposed to any of them coming in although Garcia would be my first choice.
-
Christophe Galtier? Patrice Garande? Stephané Moulin?
-
OK, so maybe he won't be showing up in the PL any time this millenium.
-
Rudi Garcia is now down to 5/4 on skybet and 6/5 on coral.
-
Eduardo Berrizo? 46 years old, only been managing in Europe since 2014 when he was brought in from the Chilean league to take over from Luis Enrique at Celta Vigo and has improved their position in the two seasons he has been there. Someone needs to draft in a real football hipster to drag up all the most obscure names.
