Absolutely. None of the players we signed have been particularly impressive, OK is about the best thing you can say about the better ones. Stekelenberg - OK I guess. VVD - Looks good some games, but also looks prone to moments of stupidity Cedric - Looks a poor signing to me, the coupling of his physical limitations and his tactical limitations has meant Koeman doesn't fully trust him. Not very good going forward for an attacking RB either. Martina - Not fantastic, but I'd have him at RB over Yoshida. Caulker - Waste of time. iWould rather see Stephens, Turnbull or McCarthy take his place in the squad. Romeu - He's been a decent addition as a squad player, too prone to getting carded and lacks the mobility to be a starter Clasie - Started to show some good passing, but really struggles physically. I guess he might come good next season. Juanmi - Not been given much of a chance to be fair, but when he does get on the field he contributes nothing. To be honest the Squad needs a lot of work in the summer and with the prospect of clubs having 10s of millions extra in TV money to play with, competing for the good signings (for teams at the level we are competing) will be very tough if the club resolves to spending only what it brings in for Mane, Wanyama and whoever else.
-
Wanyama let us down with poor on pitch discipline and Mane let us down with poor off field discipline. Having said that I feel Koeman waited way too long to bring Mane on, should have been given longer than he was as it was clear our attacking threat was non existent. All in all our play is just so slow and predictable at the moment.
-
Not looked much of a threat, but Long should have put us 1-0 up.
-
Mane benched because he showed up late to team meeting

Roma will be over the moon if they can recoup what they paid for Iturbe.
-
He hasn't been total crap, he has been average. Basically he has looked like a mid-table PL player playing in what is a mid to lower mid table at PL team this season.

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/southampton-7m-midfielder-transfer-on-cards According to AS, Celta Vigo want Romeu and the player is interested in the move because he isn't playing as much as he had hoped.
-
No end product and no competent defending, sums up why results have gone down the toilet.
-
No real positives to the overall performance besides Gazzaniga. Setting up defensively only works when the players chosen can actually defend. Bertrand stood out as particularly poor today, did practically nothing right. Wanyama, Fonte and Yoshida were all abysmal too.
-
With the players we have we should be using them to keep other sides pinned back, not benching them to make way for extra average defensive players or ones that can't be bothered.
-
Opening 44 seconds, we were brilliant. The 44:16 afterwards, we were an embarrassment.
-
Crossing has been poor, but Sunderland have been packing the box whenever we go wide. Trouble is can Juanmi or Seager change much if they come on?
-
Line up: Stek Yoshida Fonte VVD Bertrand Clasie JWP Davis Mane Tadic Pelle Yoshida at RB and a ligfhtweight CM 3 doesn't really bode well.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-0 Bournemouth

We were good first half, but alarmingly complacent second half. Had we been playing a side wth any quality whatsoever we probably wouldn't have won. -
It's being shown live in Holland and across Africa so there may be a stream. http://m.livesoccertv.com/match/1753857/southampton-vs-aston-villa/

The ramblings of a broken man.
-
Some dire performances from a few players to be sure, but Koeman must take some of the blame for his odd selection of RB, subs and switch to negative tactics the moment we went one up. Cedric couldn't have possibly done any worse at RB than Yoshida did.

http://sportsmania.eu/site/index.html Looks like someone messed up a redesign of the sportsmania website, best to use the Kodi app to get the streams today.

https://twitter.com/SBerahino/status/638744042772299776 Berahino has spat his dummy out.

Spurs offer for Berahino was allegedly 5m up front and the rest in installments. I wonder why wba told them to **** off...

MLT on SSN just now said he had been told Spurs have made only one bid for Vic a few weeks ago that was lower than the fee we paid Celtic for him.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-face-stand-southampton-saints-6349066. Supposedly won't go higher than 10m as there are no other serious offers. Worryingly claims we are willing to wait until January if Celtic don't budge. -

Probably as a sign of agreement wothe the tweet he retweeted just before -
Is anyone still defending James Ward-Prowse?

He had promise when he first broke through, but he's never really progressed. Part of that is down to a lack of on pitch assertiveness and mental strength. Never actively tries to make things happen in open play, better safe than sorry approach. Another part of his problem has been down to the number of managers we have had and the fact that all of them have tried to make him do different things and play different positions so now we have a player who is like a sqaure peg faced with 11 round holes. Adkins thought he was the next Schneiderlin, Pochettino would just put him whereever there was a gap in midfield and now Koeman wants him to attack more. tl:dr summary: a combination of aversion to risk when he plays and poor handling of his development has lead to him looking ever more likely to waste his potential. The future England captain BS comes from press hype that is fueled by his agent/management company. -
