  1. Hahaha, it was all based on your question!! All I want you to do is answer the question you posed to Batman.
  2. I seem to remember one of my friends was looking at buying their council house last year (they are actually quite high income - the guy was chucked out at 16 and got the house by himself and has never left) and i think they said they had to stay in it for 4 or 5 years or they had to pay the discount back.
  3. I can imagine many go wrong and into the hands of the banks.
  4. Pap, just answer the question, would you take the government up on the offer if you were very poor and it would likely improve your families life? Just because someone is poor it doesn't mean they'd necessarily have a bad credit rating. You can be poor but still be fiscally prudent.
  5. Wow, that was a trap? Must have taken you all morning to come up with something of that complexity. Let me put this to you, if you were very poor, what would YOU do in that situation? We've already determined that you think public spending is too high, and that those with a greater disposable income shouldn't have to pay more to take the strain off the NHS, so I wonder what you'd do if you were on the poverty line, and was given the above choice.
  6. Usual deflection as usual I see.
  7. You doing it at Thruxton or Dunsfold? I did it around 4 weeks ago, McLaren MP4 12C, Ferrari 458 and Nissan GTR Black. Had a great time, although you don't get long and they can get annoyed at you if you don't brake when they want you to. Have you ever driven a quick RWD car before btw? If you get a chance to go as a ride along in the Ariel Atom then do it, **** yourself quick, was shaking for a while after that. Apart from that, get there early and you can get yourself booked onto the cars at better times, it is very busy. Apart from that, just enjoy, and really put your foot down!
  8. Of course you would, I don't think anyone wouldn't...
  9. Tony Livesey v Chris Leslie on 5live. Great radio.
  10. I'm all for bashing the reds, but no way you could call Labour 'Socialist'.
  11. And uplifting post of the day goes to...
  12. Yes, but I believe the point was about how the inheritance amount was earned - ie. Someone built up a business and worked hard, and then dies knowing that their kids will see less of the inheritance because of what is a stupid tax.
  13. Yep, within 2 years it's very easy to get rid of someone. As soon as that has lapsed it becomes very, very difficult.
  14. I suppose the difficulty is where you draw the line. You can't have someone going through and deciding whether or not the way the money was attained was through hard work and graft and ethically sound. I would say the vast majority of the people who would benefit from the inheritance change would be those who have gained the money through hard work, as those who made their money through luck etc, will generally have a lot more than £1m to hand down...
  15. So I am off on holiday to Europe twice over the next 3 months, but I am unsure what to do with currency. Currently the pound is extremely strong, and is making the Euro good value, so do I hedge and buy a lot now in the chance that Special Ed and his buddies get in and the currency rate potentially drops, or do I stick with it and a potential increase if Smug Dave and his buddies stick around? Any opinions on this, or any traders with any insight into what may happen, would be appreciated.
  16. It's better, but it still has to be paid. People shouldn't be taxed for purchasing a property.
  17. Americans pay various sales taxes dependent on state do they not?
  18. Probably the Tories core vote, those with millions. UKIP have said they'd scrap it altogether.
  19. Now for someone to tackle the idiocy of stamp duty, help more people to purchase houses.
  20. Good move by the Conservatives on inheritance tax. Save people planning ahead and signing property etc over 7 years before they die.
  21. Camden in the South West now is it?
  22. So I'm a maybe for the drinks on the 6th. Will know on the night before, but unfortunately that's the best I can do.
  23. I remember working at minimum wage in Waitrose in 2000, £3.36 an hour or something. After about a year that went up but not much. Bloody cheap labour.
