A "gentleman's agreement"?
-
Oh G's... You understand what a gentleman's agreement is right?
-
Suggest you read my post again
-
Vic, Morgan and Fonte have all talked openly about verbal agreements with the club. Deny it in your head all you like. Last player who was decent and wanted by the club that has seen out his contract and not been sold?
-
I would like the team I support to be successful and potentially even win something.... Is that the definition of a "WUM" these days?
-
You want a club that is run well, I respect that. I also want our club to be run well and right now I believe it is so tick. I would also like the club to be slightly more ambitious and take advantage of our recent success to grow and improve. I am not seeing the evidence of this so far and feel while financially we are now better off the playing team has suffered. This is a shared opinion and was confirmed when not a single fan on here was confident enough to predict we would match or better last seasons league finish Spend the money we have received from player sales and I would be satisfied

Not forgetting every Saints contract comes with a "gentleman's agreement" that players can leave if X,Y,Z
-
Mods please help us.... BIG nasty poster being nasty boy and making regular posters upset Cry me a river
-
Do you think we will finish in the top 7? Yes or no? We improve EVERY season so this is easy easy money
-
Says that not a single person on here truly thinks we will match or better last seasons table finish Happy to extend the offer to top 7!?
-
Not a single taker for this? A forum packed with confident we will be fine types but not a single one prepared to put his money where his mouth is? Says it all
-
There is no in between? Nobody is expecting us to spend 100m, but an ambitious club could surely spend what it receives? We are up £40m this summer on transfers. £25m up two summers ago. Even before player sales we must have had a transfer budget this summer?
-
And if Liverpool had made an offer? And if say Spurs make an offer next summer?
-
You understand what a forum is right? " a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged" I am posting my views and suggest you do the same? We are all Saints fans and can surely have a friendly debate if views differ? No? Failing that just pop me on ignore? Easy
-
Tadic was pretty vocal about wanting out, I think a few ITKs confirmed his intentions to leave this summer. I imagine he was expecting a level 2 or 3 club to come knocking and offer him a nice 50/60% payrise. Unfortunately for Tadic no such offers came along and he was probably looking at a sideways move if anything. So Les comes along with a compromise or "gentleman's agreement" we will give you a little increase and if the level 2's come knocking next summer we will let you leave. Like you say Les is not hiding our philosophy or master plan. Long has found his top level IMHO, he moved from level 5 (Hull) to level 4 and would doubt many level 2 clubs would realistically want him.... He may therefore stick with us

Kat does all this for the love of the club and to continue her dad's legacy and dream
-
Sounds about right. No chance we paid £80m in wages last season
-
Care to share that data?

This is clearly the business model we have right now. Are we stock piling cash and intend to "go for it" once we have enough cash or is this a longterm strategy that we will milk until it fails. Problem is that for now it's working, not for the fans as much as the business. If we continue to make a tidy profit and finish 6-17th in the premiership then happy days for Les and Kat I'd imagine?
-
You can't deny that we have an ambition to find and sell (for a profit) players to the top 6/7 clubs in the premiership?
-
A clubs level will be determined by how desirable and appealing they are. Mix of how much they pay and how realistic they will challenge and win medals. We are level 4 simply as we do not pay a premium premiership wage. We could easily step upto level 3 and combined with our recent prem finishes and pedigree for improving players could become a very desirable club. Reed talked openly last May about doing our transfer business early. We failed to do this as we will not reassess the wages on offer. Makes negotiations much harder and you will need to convince players we are a good springboard and agree that players can move on if they are attracting level 2 sides
-
Five levels in the premiership. Level 5 includes Burnley, Hull. Also includes a few championship clubs like Newcastle
-
Did Mane move to Liverpool for European football? He moved for money and also because Liverpool are a much better potential to win cups and leagues. Players want money n medals
-
Club levels are talked about by professionals and agents. Level 1 clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Level 2 clubs: Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea Level 3 clubs: Everton, WHU, Leicester Level 4: Saints, Swansea, Watford, Palace Levels are determined by medal potential and wages paid. We typically only sell players to level 2 sides. Teams in level 3 sell / lose less players to level 2 clubs
