Interesting article in the Athletic regarding the ‘leniency’ of the FA towards Chelsea. Article is behind a paywall so here are some clips: It’s some result for them if you consider the scale of offending — financial chicanery, dodgy deals, cheating, whatever you wish to call it — that was brought before the English Football Association (FA) without, ultimately, leading to anything more than a £10million ($13.4m) fine. It goes on to compare the treatment of Chelsea with Everton, Forest, So let’s recap what exactly Chelsea did to warrant their 74 disciplinary charges and decide for yourself whether it was less or more serious than the disciplinary cases involving the clubs who, coincidentally, aren’t regarded as part of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’. There was, to quote the FA’s judgment, clear evidence that Chelsea had “deliberately flouted” the system in a way that “reveals a shameful and arrogant disregard for the rules of the game, and which has done so much to bring the game of football, and the name of CFC, into disrepute”.

Because he prefers the North?

We’re very good at signing crocks

If the rest of Europe are not bothered about any 72 hour rule, then scrap it. I do believe that it is up to the clubs to make sure they cannot be spied upon regardless of whether their grounds are secure or not - after all this is 2026 not the dark ages.

Our fishy friends might like to take him back?

One of the things I like about Tonda is how he got a tune out of Archer, Edozie, etc. when others have failed
-
That would be my worst nightmare 😱
-
Maybe scouting wasn’t part of Tonda‘s role at Barnsley?

I remember my Mum phoning me up at work to tell me Kevin Keegan was signing for Saints. Really hope he pulls through.

Isn’t BBD being released?

Pannick stations?

I have spoken with die hard Pompey fans in the neighbourhood (apart from Westwood) all of them thought the sanctions were way way over the top. However normal rivalry will begin at the start of the season.

Any news on Spors?
-
Love that he’s wearing a Saints pin badge

14th June?
-
I seem to remember a post where Tonda was meeting the players. Also a post where Spors briefed the players following the Expulsion - no mention of Tonda being present. Just putting two and two together and probably making nothing.
-
Maybe he’s already left - who knows?
-
He may be full of remorse and has resigned already.

I was at the match where Bloodgate happened!

I would rather have ‘someone we’ve never heard of’ instead of the usual journeymen managers that do the rounds but never really deliver or whose football is boring. Bournemouth/Brighton can do it, then so can we. I like Frank but wonder if it was Keith Andrews who was running the show at that time. A massive NO to Russell Martin, who along with Puel, who produced the most soporific football.

Maybe Tonda could be demoted to Head Coach leaving someone else to organise the scouting operation and on-boarding of new recruits. Could that be enough to satisfy the FA?

His team lost, not once but twice. They were not good enough to go up. He must accept that and move on. Just as we will.

Completely agree reminds me of Koeman’s era
