  4. I was wondering if our luck was going to run out tonight…not so far!
  5. Harsh but thanks!

  7. Oh well, no surprises there sadly. Gakpo has been lively this tournament but they are beatable. Maybe we will turn up tonight?
  8. This has nothing to do with individual parties. It is about an equitable system of seats gained against votes cast. Which is why an independent body needs to be set up to look at it. There is plenty of support amongst Labour MPs and Trades Unions for PR and a strong argument that Labour would do better in that system in a normal election situation (one not skewed by the electorate looking for a change after a long period of governance by a Tory party that ran out of steam and ideas). If Reform stick around and the Tories can sort themselves out they also might see the benefit in a system that wouldn’t cut them so far adrift. The LibDems have a bigger voice now and they will be pushing for it. The issue isn’t going to go away.
  9. Have you stopped to think that is because the people who take great delight in derailing threads I am on are doing the same thing here? Perhaps, if you stopped behaving like children we could have some serious discussions.
  10. Although I think many of us would bench Kane tonight but understand that Southgate will stick with him as a starter come what may, surely it is a no brainer to start Shaw ahead of Trippier if fit to start? We have been underperformed in every match so far. Why on earth would you stick with the same stating X1, unless changes were enforced by suspension/injuries, with so many decent options on the bench?

  13. Makes perfect sense, but how often do we buy a replacement before letting a player leave?
  14. Agree that you can get at them. The way we are playing I don’t think we can but the Dutch could.
  15. The French have been putting their shots over the bar all tournament. They had their chances tonight but Spain were the better side and must be hot favourites to take the trophy. They will have us for breakfast if we get through.

I said that peace would only be reached in the end through negotiations. It all ends with negotiations. The issue is at what point do get to the position where an agreement can possibly be reached. We are nowhere near that yet and I can’t see Ukraine wanting to give Putin anything without pressure from the West. I just hope the West doesn’t bottle it. Putin needs to be kept in his box.
  17. Wow again!
  18. Didn’t see that coming! Spain should have been one up but missed a similar header. Game on!
  19. I am hoping it might be the keeper’s jersey. It would blind any poor bugger trying to take a shot.

Whilst I agree that it will end (for now) around a table, I don’t think that Putin should get to keep his land grab territory. Perhaps an agreement on neutrality for Ukraine with no NATO membership? Not sure about EU membership though. Putin won’t like it but I don’t see why Ukraine shouldn’t be allowed to join. Feel gutted for Ukraine. It can’t be a great feeling knowing that other nations have a say in your own nation’s destiny - especially if Donald Trump is involved.
  21. Oh, ok then. My wife would probably like one too 😘
  22. I’ve been wading through the various different kinds of PR. It seems like you can bolt on all kinds of extras to any of the systems depending on the requirements of the state? If so, it makes finding something that might get voted in at referendum strait off the bat more difficult. You could also have FPTP and a PR system together! If there were to be a referendum I think finding systems to put on a ballot paper could be a major problem in itself. I guess you could provide several alternatives with a transferable vote do that we ended up with something that would be acceptable to most? I don’t recall countries like Australia and New Zealand changing their electoral systems but they must have found ways of dealing with variations and amendments.
  23. Part of my response was to your post and part was a general comment. My apologies, I should have made that clearer.
  24. No one accused you of it.
