  1. Cortese got away with being a dreadful human being because he was relatively successful with the club. It makes you wonder what kind of grief Marcus would have got if he was still with us and we were performing as we have been.

    Coronavirus

It looks like Italy are going to let their old folk fend for themselves.
  3. So 10 years of austerity because we couldn’t borrow? Also what happened to all of the money we were “saving” by leaving the EU? It doesn’t appear to be the amount Johnson told us and it doesn’t appear to be going to the NHS?
  4. No need to spilt the thread Lighthouse, especially as you shut the Weinstein thread down. I’m just pleased to see him get what he deserves.
  5. There isn’t a thread entitled big things in life that bring you joy so I am making do.
  6. Weinstein gets 23 years.

    Coronavirus

You get through one roll a day? Either you take a lot of dumps or you use a lot of paper.

    VAR

The argument that poor VAR decisions even out over a season are as non-sensical as saying that poor referring decisions even themselves out. No they don’t just as if you toss a coin 100 times the chances of it being heads 50% of the time are small.
  9. They voted against an election at that time because the democratically elected MPs thought it best for the people they serve. Sounds like democracy to me. Unlike Boris’s definition which seems to be vote for me and I will look after my mates but stuff the rest of you.
  10. No mention of the 300 outstanding cases of alleged Islamophobia by the Tory party then Duckie?
  11. Our problems have not been down to Gao particularly, but the very poor recruitment in recent seasons.

    Coronavirus

I have been trying to figure this out and can only assume a major concern that people have if they have to “self isolate” for 14 days is not running out of loo roll. It makes you wonder how many rolls some people get through in a week!
  13. He may or may not be the worst owner in our history, but we are still in the Premiership. No one will miss him if and when he goes, that much is true. But there is no guarantee that the next person will throw money at the club. Although Marcus is, quite rightly, held in high esteem, we do not know if he would have ploughed the money into the club in the last few years needed to make us competitive at the top end of the division. I have been a supporter since 1966 and can never remember a time when the owner/chairman/ceo threw tons of money into the club. Even when we finished runners up we still had a couple of positions in which we were a bit weak. A couple of high quality replacements and who knows, perhaps we would have won the league. This is not an argument to keep Gao, but a reminder that as a club we have only found a level of success through shrewd signings and the use of youth. Get the signings wrong and not have the quality in the youth coming through and we will struggle, whoever owns the club.
  14. Absolutely. My wife says we can use it as an ornament. We would have to move to a bigger house to find room for it.
  15. Novelty gifts that have absolutely no use. My wife’s sister bought her a massive wine glass which will hold a full bottle of wine, ha ha! It will never get used and takes up a load of space.
  16. The Echo are running the story but manage to call him Goa.
  17. As you know, there is no quick fix. Hopefully now that the sentencing is done you can start to gradually move forward. I know you said it is down to the individual and you have to be strong, but there is no shame in leaning on others. Good luck with your recovery!
  18. Whether Bill Clinton lied, was economical with the truth or whatever, has nothing to do with Trump being an appalling human being and an embarrassment of a President.
  19. Silly me. They only go back 2.7 million years. D’oh.
  20. Surely you recall his monumental cock up over the Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe case?
  21. Don’t they find this stuff out through ice cores?
  22. People who say “yeah, no.” Which is it? It is either one or the other.
  23. Sounds horrendous! How are you doing now?
  24. The cracks were very apparent before the election but the Great British public obviously felt that if the USA could vote in someone completely unfit for office, then so could we.
