The shopping mall is already a ghost town but there were some signs of some green shoots of recovery, but those are rapidly being snuffed out. Sadly the ignore button does not work when others quote those you have on ignore. You still see their posts in the quote. Also if you aren’t logged in and pop on to have a quick read you see everything from everyone which means you have to stay constantly logged in. TUI has an ignore function that means you see nothing from people on your ignore list at all, so it can be done. Ideally the moderators should do something about abusive behaviour. I assume that they have jobs and spend large proportions of their employment trolling on the internet. I had my second booster on Saturday. After a few hours my arm felt like I had been kicked by a mule and felt a bit meh all day yesterday but fine today. I wasn’t sure whether to bother having another booster but, having avoided covid so far, probably don’t have a great deal of resistance and it is on the increase round here again. Heard yesterday that on old friend of my parents has just passed away from it. Went into hospital with pneumonia and then contracted covid whilst in hospital and that finished him off. It appears that there are still serious complications to be had from long covid. Despite what MLT says, I think I’d rather take my chances with the vaccine than with the virus.

The current Prime Minister was elected by Tory Party members after a selection process in which MP’s voted in a process that gave the party members a choice of 2 candidates. To say that the PM was chosen by MPs is incorrect. The country did not vote for Truss and she has no mandate. There is absolutely nothing remotely Democratic about this process. If a Tory Party leader stood on her manifesto at a general election it is more than likely they they would not get elected. We should have an election and let the people decide if they want this party with their undemocratically elected leader to continue in no 10.

I totally agree with you up to a point. I don’t think that some people think that “huge success” is just a manager away, but I do think that many have unrealistic expectations for a club of our resources and size. Being an average, mid table club for us season after season with good cup runs is not an unreasonable expectation. To be playing regularly in what we are told is the best league in the world is no mean feat for an average sized club. There are plenty of clubs like us who have been languishing in the lower leagues for years.

I don’t see a problem with 3 tax bands, basic, one for high earners and one for the super high earners. The thresholds for the bands, certainly the first two, need to be increased. As for the super earners, I wonder how many of them pay what they are supposed to here? I imagine their money is squirrelled away in off shore accounts. As someone said in a phone in the other day, the trickle down economy is a myth. It is a trickle up economy. Working people spend their money. The rich use it to make more or sit on it.
