Rule 1!!! I must be getting old. I loved heavy rock (now Metal) back in the last 60's and 70's - Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Groundhogs etc - but was bored stiff with it by 1977 and cant believe it is still going strong all these years later. Page, Blackmore, Iommi etc mined the best riffs all those years ago - anything now is just derivitive. Or maybe I am just getting old? -
I am with you. Also hated the arrogance of not playing with recognised strikers. Thank God this WC has seen the great strikers scoring great goals.

Liverpool played hard ball with Suarez and that paid off because it was one player. At the point he realised (or was told by his agent) that he was going no where and the best way to get a move in the future was to nuckle down and play it all changed. You can get away with that with one player but when you have several who decide they want out it is very different. The last thing we wont to do is to field a team where 50% dont want to be here any more. The Board are in a difficult place but by getting the kind of money they did for Shaw (which was crazy money) at least means that we have more money to strengthen. If Schneiderlen and Lovren go as well we will still only have lost two academy players though. Still not great I know but it is not as if we are losing all of our babies. What is sickening is the fact that these people clearly do not give a stuff about the club that has made their careers and are happy to jump ship at the same time. This has nothing to do with the incompetence of the Board, it is down to human nature. In the immortal words of Kevin Keegan, I would love it, just love it if we won something next season and Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs dont.

And you posted it here. If it had contained a postive spin on the situation I wonder if you would have bothered?

Some pictures were published of him wearing a ring with a glass eye on it.

It was always going to be a tough season to follow if Pochettino, Shaw, Lallana and Lambert had stayed. More and more managers were working out how to play against Pochettinos style. We needed to sign new players but given the Osvaldo debacle there is no guarantee that any new players would improve the squad. There is realism and their is pessimism. You seem to dwell in the oh dear category rather than looking at the positives. We could actually end up with a better manager than Pochettino and a better squad you know.

Blimey mate you must have an awful lot of spare time on your hands. Not happy with starting your own doom and gloom posts anymore you have to Google the internet to find doom and gllom from other fans. As yet it is not a mass exodus although I accpet some more players could leave. I dont know where he got JRod going with England if he had been fit because he clearly wasnt (who would he have gone instead of?). Nit picking aside, no one player or manager is bigger than the club and replacements wil come in. No one knows at this moment how they will fare but it isnt out of the realsm of possibility that we could do better than last year. Koeman could more up his sleeve than the high pressing game and he could bring in players who will score the goals that seem to dry up for us the longer the season went on. We arent the first club to lose players to bigger clubs and we wont be the last. We were lucky to have the quality in the squad to take us from Div 1 to the Premieship but now, not surprisingly, a number of these players want to take advantage of the fact that they are now sought after by bigger clubs. We have a new manager and will have new players to look forward too. It is going to be a very very long summer if you and your chums paw over every last nuance of players leaving to better their careers. Longer still if you drag up every utterance from people who support other clubs.

St Charlie and his other pessimistic bed-wetting fans would. The reasonable ones would wait and see who came in before they made such knee jerk reaction.
-
One story said that we wouldnt sell Shaw for less than £40m. Another had Steve Bruce as our new manager.Another had us signing a keeper whose name I forget just before he signed a new contact at his current club. So not all turned out to be true.
-
Chris Marsden was brilliant for us!!!
-
Townsend seems to have an issue with us? I wonder if it is because he never really made it here and it was only when he left for Villa that his career took off?
-
Pochettino would have stayed under Cortese? You know that as a fact do you? The club is toxic? LOL. Do you really think someone like Koeman would join us if the club were "toxic." Not surprising people have left for more money and bigger clubs. We have come a long way in a short space of time and surprise, surprise, some people have decided to cash in their chips and move on. Life goes on. The club will go on. The club is not toxic and because it is in such good shape that is why many of our staff are coverted by other clubs.

Whats up with the top of Debbie Harry's nose? -
Of course they wont. They have Champions League football and are a very big club. We dont and we arent. Very successful manager? Pochettino? We finished 8th and didnt win any cups. A good season but very successful, I dont think so. Over the years we have picked up some gems - Pahars springs to mind. There is no reason why we cant end up with a strong squad and kick on. We can never compete with wages but we can make shrewd signings. Lets see who comes in.

When you get to my age Minty the obvious is a blessing. Anything vaguely imaginative went with my hair years ago!
-
A fence?
-
Dont recall us saying we wouldnt sell. Only that if we did it would be on our terms which is what has seemed to be the case.
-
We are victims of our own success but surely it is better to be where we are with top clubs wanting our players than where we were a few years ago with no one wanting our players? We do exactly the same and are looking to see who we can poach from other clubs. If we cant keep these players at least we are generating an income for the club from them that will help us compete in the Premiership.
-
Heard someone on TalkSport today say that Sturridge had done well. If he had we will be in the next round. If he doesnt improve at this level you have to wonder where the next prolific striker is going to come from. We are also light in the centre half dept. This is the first competition where we have fallen between two stools. As another poster said earlier, it came a lot too early for some and a little too late for others. Hodgson has a lot of work to do but we need to start by making sure we have our best young players playing in competitions as Stuart Pearce has been banging on about for months. It is no good doing the business in qualifying and then blowing it when it comes down to the serious stuff.
-
Liverpool have made an enquiry but apparently there is a sticking point about possible add ons. They are baulking at our wanting an extra £5k for her to provide of Victoria Sponge every afternoon on the trolley.
-
Here you go again. You must be related to Alpine surely? Do us all a favour will you and wait until we see who comes in before you post any more of this negative nonsense.
-
You are right for once mate. it is bedwetting. Players will go and replacements will come in. Think about this, we could end up with a better squad than we had last season. I am as gutted as anybody else that we are losing these guys but no one is bigger than the club. I have seen players like Martin Chivers, Ron Davies, Mike Channon, Steve Williams, Theo Walcott and the Ox all leave and guess what, the world still turns, the sun still rises and life goes on.
-
Team of mercenaries? Maybe players will join us because they can see we are a progressive club and want to be a part of that? Is Lovren a mecenary? Borac?
-
Lactating? And what is going on downstairs?
-
Fiesale? I have read some negative drivel on this forum over the years St Charlie but you take the biscuit. You seem to look for the negative spin in everything. A firesale is what you do when you sell assets to pay off creditors. Players come. Players go. At the moment the only player to have left is Lambert. Why dont you wait and see excatly who leaves and who comes in before he start any more meltdown threads. You really need to get out more. You are in danger of becoming the Suarez of the forum - prolific but barking mad.
