I agree, he has more chance of being sacked in the next 5 seasons (actually probably the next season) than he has of winning the Premiership in 5 seasons and given the realtive strength of the top clubs against Spuds the chances of CL are pretty slim too. On the bright side they could have plenty of Europa Cup football to look forward to.

I am sure when players/potential managers meet with the Chairman he/she does there best to sell the club and the club's asperations to the prospective new employee. There have been a number of occasions where the person hasnt been impressed with what they have heard and havn't joined the club. Cortese seemed to pride himself on his "vision" and we were told he was very good at selling that "vision" to others. I am sure he would be very upset to hear his profound words to be described by an internet jockey as "empty words." So back to point 1 again before I close. If you are going to slander the owner I suggest you are sure of your facts. My understanding was IF we had to sell, we would make sure we got top dollar. That is very different to the spin you put on it.

Because football is a team game and if you have a bunch of players who arent happy where they are it impacts upon team performaance. We heard that about QPR the year before last didnt we? Dischord in the dressing room. You could get away with it with one player but not several. How ould you feel if a load of your mates got jobs elsewhere doing the same job for three or four times the money at "better" companies and one of these was interested in you. You go to your boss and say I'd like to leave please and he says no, you are under contract and you have to stay. Are you going to be a happy bunny? I doubt it. Why would you want people like that in your team when you need people to pull together? I'd love it if they could be pursuaded to stay but if they really want out I would prefer we had players here who wanted to be here.

I dont see Liverpool and Manchester United going after a load of Everton players though so they dont have the issue we do do they? When United wanted Rooney what happened there? Fellani too last season. It just so happens it is our players they are after now.

The disregard for the lives of innocent men women and children never ceases to amaze me. Here we are in 2014 with thousands of years of experience behind us as a supposedly constantly evolving and growing life form and we (well some of us) continue to act like monsters. I hope those responsible are found, convicted and rot in jail. You watch the programmes about the First and Second World Wars and realise that nothing has really changed. For all the pain and suffereing we are still capable of producing these sickening atroceties.

Scouting is one thing, players being available, being happy with the deal or waiting to see if a bigger club comes along another. If you were an agent wouldnt you be touting for the best deal for your clients?

Love the idea that Morgan would snub a move to Arsenal because he would rather work with Pochettino than Wenger. So much for playing in the big games then if he is prepared to snub CL football and go to Spuds.

As long as we continue to play attractive attacking football, give the cups a real go and finish around midtable I'd be more than happy with that. The pride I felt when Lambert scored a goal with his first touch has been soured by everthing that has happened since and it wouldnt bother me if a Saints player never played for England again.

If you watched football in the 70s and 80s you would know that the cartel that currently strangled football didnt exist. Liverpool were dominate and Leeds were a "big" club then but there were more smaller clubs competing than there are now. You conveniently ignore the point about clubs like United and Tottenham getting relegated in those days. Do you think that could happen now? They could spend their way out of trouble if needs be. They werent able to back then. Look at the success that Ipswich had. We actually came 2nd without spending sh*tloads of money on players. What did Keegan cost in the early 80s? £400,000? What would a European Player of the Year cost now? Go back and look at league tables in the 70s and 80s and compere them to the Premiership tables of the last few years.

The new lot have employed Ronald Koeman who could, potentially, be a better manager than Pochettino. I would say that was moving on.

There is no chance of this happening. I am not a betting man but am willing to bet a large chunk of money on Tottenham not winning the Premiership in the next 5 years.

I know it sounds like jumpers goalposts etc, but I used to go and watch 1st Divsion football matches with my pocket money. I cant afford to spend the type of money you need to spend to watch live Premiership football now. As long as people are prepared to pay these over inflated prices and buy very expensive replica kits nothing will change. The good old days are long gone and I doubt very much if we will ever see their like again.

If you look at the top 5 or 6 there was plenty of variety. Teams from the then 2nd Division won the FA Cup. Teams like Notts Forest were successful in Europe. England Internationals like Mike Channon played in the 2nd Division. Teams like Manchester United and Tottenham were relegated. Pre Premiership was a very different world.

Although I dont want to see it happen I think a European Super League is a forgone conclusion. On the plus side it will clear out the top 4 or 5 and make way for a more competitive Premiership. I think there would need to be a wage cap too so that we dont end up with another top 4 monopolising the league again. It would be so good to go back to the days when clubs the size of Southampton, Forest, Derby and Ipswich were up there challenging and winning things.

I dont support SFC because of the size of the club and really dont give a feck whether Spurs, Everton or anyone else are "bigger." I like the fact that we have been able to compete with so called "bigger" clubs without paying stupid wages and stupid transfer fees. Long may it continue and if it means that players leave for "bigger" clubs it just means it gives us the opportunity to bring other players though who are happy to play for the club as it is. If I wanted to be a "plastic" I would have been off years ago. I have always been proud to support SFC whatever divsion we have played in. To me the club will always be bigger than any player, any Board member, anyone. I am also happy that KL is continuing to run the club without turning into another Man City.

I think the "Southampton Way" was actually the "Cortese Way" and meant whatever he wanted it to mean for any given circumstance. In other words, it was b*llsh*t.

I can't say for sure but would think that newly promoted sides are statistically more likely to get relegated in their first season. QPR scrapped their way to promotion and dont look a good bet to stay up to me. Southampton have consolodated their Premiership status, have excellent facilities, ambition (yes, ambition), a decent manager and one of the most talked about acadamies in football. Despite the negative stories we are still an attractive club. We will sign players and eventually all of this nonsense will blow away and we will get on with the business of wniing football matches.

Indeed! You can have all of the possession in the world but if you score less than the other team it is a waste of time. From the WC I thought that the "future" was the counter attack.
