Because it just ain't Sants without the stripes and black shorts Alps. And the sash is pants. And there is nothing "lucky" about the kit. The results are down to the players and management, not the shirts.

Diego Maradona. World class player. 3rd class human being.

Having dumbed down Britain as far as it could go I suppose they consider it job done?

Or he could be thinking thank f * c k I don't have to worry about the manager jumping my wife anymore?

Alps, serious point. Didn't you give a previous manager all types of grief for saying that he was aiming for the play offs? Congratulations by he way for becoming a celeb amongst the Brighton fans.

Wasn't there talk at the time that he was bought as an investment. Didn't this come from Cowan?

Now here's the thing. Strachan got us to the Cup Final but Lowe got us relegated. Funny how the responsibility changes depending on postive or negative circumstances eh Wes? Lowe brought Strachan to he club and Strachan says he didn't have a problem with him. Whatever you think of Lowe he kept us in the Premiership for most of his tenure and did so with a crowd of 15k for a number of years. He was prudent but he needed to be. Look what happened when the happy spenders rode into town. It wasn't all bad under Lowe but some people need a scapegoat and he was tailor made for the roll. Fair play to him for still being interested in the club he managed for a decade. Now lets move on...

Bournemouth 1 - 3 Saints - Post Match Reaction
sadoldgit replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Great result but I always feel more comfortable taking on the top teams than the lower teams. No let up now, we need to keep this going. -
Depends on your outlook Alps. I enjoyed Burleys only full season and Pardews last year. Nice to see the team winning games and scoring goals. Adkins is doing ok.We are Southampton not Barcelona and I don't expect us to win anything every season but if we are "up there" and competing that is ok by me.

Question for the Negative-Thinkers after the Colchester result
sadoldgit replied to dune's topic in The Saints
You and me both mate. -
Why does there have to be an agenda Alpine? The simple fact is that we had a good season last year and many of us thought that this season would be stronger. By that I mean beating teams like Walsall away. Do you think we have progressed or just stayed at the same level? For me I was pleased that we kept our better players in January but very disappointed in the other players we brought in. I am not sure if the money is there for a major push to get out of the division but if we don't do it this year it will be harder next year because I can't see our brighter stars staying on much longer in League 1. Do you think we will go up? Right now I wouldn't put my mortgage on it.

Also lost 9 in 46 last season. This season we have lost 9 in 31 so far. Progress?
-
According to the Echo Pardew's team only failed to score in something like 6 out of 40 odd games. This season we have failed to score in over one third of our games. Needs to be remedied PDQ methinks.
-
To be fair he didn't say that Pardew was sacked for results.
-
Because Leeds and Norwich are doing well it doesn't follow that we will do the same. Yes, you build up a head of steam but you still have to go out and win football matches and to do that you need a very strong squad. I don't think ours is that strong yet.

League Table since Adkins - indications for 2nd half of season?
sadoldgit replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
You are assuming that this job was on the table much arlier I suppose. If so, why not just leave? Why wait to get sacked? -
Still LOL Alps. Yes wow we scored two goals and are winning 3-1 but still you look for the negative.
-
You were saying Alps? LOL

We have often been average since and we don't know if he would have gone if his relationship with the bossman had been ok. -

My point is that he sacked a team that were actually doing well rather than failing. Can you honestly say that Adkins has actually made a huge difference? -
Aha Alps, lost none of your charm I see!

If he gets us there. By sacking Pardew and most of the coaching staff.
