I don't know mate, I was just "putting it out there" as there was a suggestion that there was a row about his signing.
-
Perhaps it is a bit of both? Cortese wants rid of Pardew but is backed into a corner and can't sack him. It kicks off a bit at training (anyone remember that footage of Berkovic nearly having his head kicked off by Hartson?) and NC uses that as a reason to sack Pardew. He gets rid of two more to make it look better.
-
So NC approaches AP and says we can buy this Brazilian midfielder and AP says no thanks???
-
You wouldn't interview everyone at Staplewood. After interviewing a few main people you would make up your mind pretty quickly if it was a sacking offence. He was sacked remember? Trust me, if it was a fight things move really quickly. It doesn't take the best part of a month.
-
It has spread quite a lot already.
-
3 weeks? I have been involved in incidents like this are they are dealt with in days not weeks
-
I will support the new manager whoever he may be Alps, but I don't trust the CEO one bit.
-
If the story about Pardew is true, then I agree he should have gone. If it is a smokescreen to show Cortese in a good light then he is not a fit and proper person to be in charge of our club.
-
What if it is not the case? And if so, why wait 3 weeks to sack people?

Well, if they were so united against Pardew why did they forget all about it at Bristol?
-
I didn't get the impression that that worked closely togther. If it is true about Guly and the transfer committee then how much of the sqaud was Pardew "allowed" to assemble? As for Vote of Confidence, we all know what that means. And as for undermining, sometimes you can do that without saying a word - like no praise for Pardew whatsoever when we won the cup.
-
I really don't know what to think Nick. I don't believe that Cortese wanted Pardew to stay or fought his corner against Markus..as for the rest, God knows.
-
Come on Nick, I know you are working hard at cutting Cortese some slack but even you must have picked up on the lack of support last season? Why was there all that fuss last season about Pardew being up for the sack? Even when he was forced to come out and give a statement is was less then convincing.
-
So we had Burley as an alchy and Pardew as a major sh*gger -all rumour and conjecture but it gets repeated a few times then it becomes fact.
-
Yep...all seems very odd.
-
Yep, there could be another explanation, but there are two main players in this situation and various stories flying around, some of which might be true. Cortese made the call. He has been cool towards Pardew for quite some time. I don't but this stuff about Markus wanting him out and Cortese fighting his corner. Cortese doesn't want to come out of this looking like the bad guy so who has most to gain from getting a little spin out there? For someone who doesn't like to talk to the media where do these sources close to Nicola suddenly spring from? If there was truth in the punch up rumour why didn't a well known journo like Samuals pick up on it? Curiouser and couriouser There are lots of things that just don't add up here.

Statement from Nicola Cortese essential now.....

Why? It is not his money at the end of the day. -
Not going there as it is as unlikely as us signing the European Player of the Year.
-
Indeed. I don't know either of these people yet I have not seen Pardew behave in a way that has been anything but professional. Cortese on the other hand has already made lots of enemies in the media and at the club and I do wonder about the possible spin now coming out. Goodness knows what the truth is but whilst people are saying if it is true then Pardew is a right ****, what I would say is if it is not true what does that make Cortese?
-
Who knows indeed, but you would imagine that if Pardew was so hated by some of the players why they didn't perform better last night?
-
Which doesn't explain in the least why Cortese didn't seem to support Pardew at all.
-
How on earth can you make that type of statement when you do not know the two individuals involved? You have no more idea over what has happened than I hav eyet you make a crass statement like that. Jeez Alpine, you take the biscuit.
-
Funny though all the same.
-
I agree. I can't believe that e are going through this process again when if there is one thing this club needs it is to keep hold of a manager for a decent length of time. Clubs that do well are stable clubs in the main. You get the sense that with Cortese's impatience we are not going to get that from him. It is all very well going on about strength etc but Lowe was the same and he got blasted for it. It is all very well kicking ar*e if your decisions are the right ones. Time will tell with Cortese but this was his biggest call so far and I think he got it totally wrong.
