  1. Finally just got around to watching the match. I still don't know how we lost.
  2. To be fair it is not a question of SFC being newsworthy (or not), it is about the story.
  3. Spot on.
  4. I think clubs should have to keep their managers for the whole season. That would soon flush out any differences between CEOs and managers.
  5. Wish he was the England manager.
  6. You are a very odd person Mr Fry. Please do us both a favour and put my posts on ignore. And for the record, how much do you think it will cost us to buy our way out of the 3rd Division? And while you are at it you can let me know how many Champion Leagues have Chelsea won? What return did Ipswich get for their £8m last year? I am sure there are plenty of other clubs who spent a lot of cash over the last few season with little to show for it, but frankly, I can't be ar*ed.
  7. Having had one infamous previous CEO with no idea/little regard for PR, it seems we have found another. Mr Cortese is well within his rights to do what he wants with the club, but you do get the feeling that he ought to run these things past a Max Clifford (or someone like him) before launching another round into the collective club's foot.
  8. Yet you have been kicking off for weeks about the lack of transfer activity and I got the impression that you would rather like answers as to why that was???
  9. Thinking about buying one secondhand but have heard they can be expensive to maintain and to put right when things go wrong. Its that or a BMW Z3. Thoughts please?
  10. Apologies if this has been posted already, but driving home tonight there was a bit on Talksport about us. They said a cartoonist had drawn a picture of the Plymouth goal as the photographers were not allowed in. (Sorry, just caught the other thread and seen the pictures)
  11. I am sure that the tactics change (or are supposed to change) many times in a game. How do we know there isn't a plan B? Perhaps there are plans down to R but they are just too subtle for us to notice any change?
  12. It is not just a question of sacking the manger, it is who you bring in...
  13. I don't disagree that they need to deal with it and I am sure the money helps, but when they are on the pitch surely encouragement works better than slagging? When was thwe last time you saw a team booed who turned their performance around?
  14. eh???
  15. I think we should go all out to win every game we play.
  16. Interesting post. If it is true that the offers we made were "derisory" you do have to wonder what is going on (are you still on here Alpine, what is your take?)
  17. I don't think that is the point John. Would it make things better for you at work if you were having a bad day and a group of people took it upon themslves to stand around you and boo? Does it help or does it just make things worse? I can't recall a team picking itself up and rally when booed but have seen plenty of team come back and score when supported. It was easy at Wembley because we played well and were never going to lose.
  18. Or maybe because football is a random game and random things happen no game is a foregone conclusion. I am not going to ask them because they are professionals and know what they need to do, rather then a bunch of cyber jockeys who would have no idea how to run a football club if it was offered to them on a plate. As you are so aggitated about the lack of signings perhaps you would like to ask Mr Cortese what is going on?
  19. I got the feeling Pardew wanted both but could see that the club had been starved of success and as a part of trying to get the "winning mentality" back was keen on cup success. Shouldn't evey manager try and win every competition his team is in? I don't recall ever hearing Pardew say that the league was secondary.
  20. I think the reason that you get abuse Alps is because you assume that nothing is going on behind the scenes. Yep, we are short up front but we have tried to sign Tyson and apparently Antionio (did he play yesterday by the way). Not all bids come off and should we then sign inferior players or wait for the players we need?
  21. Good question. We also used to be a great home team and rubbish away. Man Utd are usualy stronger after Christmas. Go figure. I think it is a mental thing. You can get people fit but getting their heads right is another matter.
  22. Trouble is Nick, we can only make a judgement on what we hear. I am sure all kinds of things are happening behind the scenes.
  23. I think you are right. I think that Cortese was backed into a corner over keeping Pardew and probably resents it. Not an ideal situation for starting such a crucial season. I hope I am wrong but you need to manager and CEO working in harmony and I don't think that these two ever will.
  24. You are quite right. Which is why I have more respect for supporters of clubs like Leeds who continued to support their team for years even when things were going poorly rather than supporters who throw their dummies out of the pram after 1 game in 46. I
  25. Don't you think that the professional people who run the club know this Alpine? Or do you think that they read these forums after a loss to see what they should do. Every club wants players who can break down defences and getting players who are good at it week in week out takes time.
