Once again Alpine, pot, kettle black. Still now that we know that Cortese sits on a 4 man transfer committee (and no doubt shares his humungous knowledge of quality lower league players with his colleagues) I am sure that you will direct your scorn re the non signings of players recently towards him as much as Pardew? After all, we all know how much you hate hypocricy!
-
I think there was an issue of a certain white substance and that is why he fell foul of WGS.
-
We have had 2 league games. If in the next week or so we bring in 2 players who improve our results what is the problem. If we don't make any signing and are struggling after 10 games, by all means slit your wrists, but after 2 games when you know we are looking to strengthen - jeez.
-
Can't understand why, surely all those years in banking have set Nicola up for this committe perfectly? I'd love to be a fly on the wall in those meetings.
-
Absolutely. And WGS bottled his team selection for the final. We lost it at Highbury in effect.

No point in using facts and stats Nick. Once Alps has made his mind up that is it. I am not quite sure what his criteria for judging a manager is, but only Pearson seems to have passed muster in recent years. -

I see. The only manager you have supported in recent years one 3 matches in 13. You may well be right about Pardew (almost being over that is). If he does go I wonder how long it will be before you are on the new guys back? However I think there are plenty of people who saw the good in last season and do think that Pardew has what it takes. -

Remind me again, when was the last time a season was decided 2 games in? Neither of us was at the game yesterday so both of us have taken a view from what others have said. I note that we made good chances and probably should have won. Your view seems to be that Pardew is inept and the season is over for us. -
3 games in.
-
When did Pardew say that he was prioritizing the cups and not the league? I got the impression he wanted both.
-
If you don't have an agenda against Pardew why are you constantly picking holes in him? As for Cortese, feel free to provide evidence that I want to see the back of him.
-
There is no evidence either way. Just be honest Alpine, you can't wait to see the back of Pardew.
-
Why are we so crap at the beginning of the season..?

Lets face it, if Pardew were to win every game 3-0 there would still be some on here knocking him. -
Maybe he has been told to wait until the market opens up. The fact is we have no idea what is going on - just as we didn't earlier when you were getting jumpy about the defence and lo and behold we signed some defenders. These are professional people and are paid a lot of money to get it right. The next couple of signings will be crucial to the season and I am more than happy for Pardew to wait to get players he wants rather than get some for the sake of it.
-
2 league games and one cup game in...let's see shall we?
-
With so much stake and his neck on the line perhaps that is understandable. Look what happened with Delgado. His transfers so far have been fine.
-
If he is waiting, maybe that is because he has been told to. Or do you know something different?

Spot on, although I think Pardew should move to Austria because it is obviouly much easier to see what is needed through the refined air of the Alps : ) -

What? So the players are not responsible at all? You really do come out with some rubbish Alpine. -
Perhaps, or perhaps he is just fed up with answering the same question. I do wonder what is going on between Cortese and Pardew though.
-
None of us knows what is going on behind the scenes but if waiting a bit longer means that we get the right players in why should that be a problem?
-
Here we go again. The man that knows absolutely nothing about running a football club having a pop. Perhaps you would like to enlighten us as to how you know that Pardew's Plan B is crap or that he doesn't have several plans? Do you really think that an experienced manager goes into a match with only one strategy in his head to win the game? You do have an amazing insight mate, and all the way from Austria too. We had enough chances to beat Plymouth and Orient. Perhaps it is the players you should be having a go at for not putting the ball in the net because the chances are certainly there (and that would indicate that Plan A, Plan C or Plan Z are working as far as that is concerned).
-
You really do have some serious issues going on Alpine. How do you know that the lack of transfer activity is not down to the CEO? If that was the case would you show "tolerance and understanding"?
-
All managers are only as good as the last match and all managers are always one match away from being sacked. There is no job security but they do get handsomely rewarded for failure. What I find sad is this that for many on here the answer after a defeat (and even a draw) is sack the manager. A succesful club is one that pulls togther from top to bottom. It is not just down to the manager. The CEO, the players, the training staff, the physios - everyone has responsibility. There is an assumption by some that Pardew has deliberately stalled on buying players (this despite knowing that he tried to buy a striker). These people have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. It may well be down to Cortese, but hey, as he is currently fireproof lets take a pop at the manager. Pardew is no mug and showed last season that he has what it takes to get us promoted - with support. If the sacking brigade get their way and he goes, what on earth will you do if his predessesor fares no better?
