If you had bothered to read what I said properly I gave due praise to LMs acheivements here as manager, although I am sure you understand that finances did not play such a huge part in football in those days and he was able to bring in the sort of player that we have not been able to afford in more recent times. I was talking about what LM brings to the party now, which is pure nostalgia.

GReat times, but Lawrie could not amass that type of team here nowdays. He was a man of his time but times hav emoved on. Can't blame him for rehashing the glory days as we have not had many of those at this club, but he did not cover himslef in glort when he came back and seems to forget that we almost went down last year whilst he was here to give us his enormous experience. I bet Alex Ferguson and Big Phil arehaving a laugh. How many roadsweepers do they have playing for them? How many did Brazil have in 1970? I some of Lawries better squads I don't remember too may roadsweepers either. Yes it was petty of Lowe to take his picture down, but it is also petty to hearp on about it (or have your wife harp on about it) at the AGM! His ego is a big as Lowe's if not bigger. Right now the troubles of the club are bigger than a 30+ year old photograph. If it had been a picture of the team with the trphy I would join in, but it was McMenemy. Tells you all you need to know. McMemeny talks about divisiness but he is being divisive. Whaetver you think of Lowe, he did preside over our more successful periods in the last decade and things were not all bad. McMenemy's record since leaving us sucks. He managed us well but fecked up at Sunderland big time. He knows about running a team but his attempts with others to run a football club were shabby.

I am saying that what is happening at SFC can hardly be compared to the loss of life.
-
A traitor??? Oh dear. I support the club. You have withdrawn your financial support, what does that make you Stanley?
-
I am not the one making stupid comparisons.
-
Yep, and perhaps the board of Woolies should have bought a few tons of pick'n'mix between them too?
-
That wont stop people having a pop at the board will it. Having said that, so much for being happy here and wanting to stay!!!
-
So it is okay then? Fine, let's carry on likening our fortunes with real disasters and tragedies. How about likening it to 9/11 next?
-
Come on Legod, are you serious? Of course they appreciate the gravity of the situation. But Fulthorpe is a long standing joke and Salz is not going to through his money away just because us fans want him to now is he?
-
I am sure the families of the people who lost loved ones would love your comparison with what is going on at a football club.
-
My hero, jeez Stanley have you morphed into Alpine or something? As for your comment, this is just football we are talking about. I used to think Saints fans were decent people but comments like that make me wonder.
-
Chelsea it would seem, as he is their player.
-
Alpine can't be up yet. He will go into meltdown mode when he hears this.
-
And how do you cme to that decision Stanley? If Chelsea want him back or to move him on to Watford that is hardly down to Lowe is it? That is the problem with players you don't own. They can be moved on.
-
Did I miss something? Did hundreds of people just die???
-
He is not our player and we do not call the shots on his future.
-
What, apart from the fact that he assumes that nothing will be done about the situation??? Obvioulsy the people who run the club hadn't seen what Alpine had picked up, but now that he has identified the problem I am sure someone from the club will do something about it. (insert smiley thing here)

David Armstrong for me, no question. -
I am sorry Leon, it is a good disguise but the cheap aftershave gave you away. Now go and sit with the riff raff, there's a good man.
-
It appears that Smith has had a run of injury and illness so perhaps there is more to come? Either way, lets hope that he and the other guy can produce the goods and help turn things round in the New Year.

Alpine, I think you will find that it is the way that you post, your constant negativity (which stretches way back beyond the current regime) the way that you dismiss anyone who disagrees with you and the abuse that you dish out regularly and your Mr Angry online persona which all single you out for attention. You are in no way realistic. You constantly use anything and everything to attack the club and the people who run it. If a CB is recalled it is the end of life as we know it in your book. A previous manager was supposed to be sabbotaging our attempts to get promoted. Realistic??? No just very childish and pathetic. A realistic person looks at all angles and makes objective judgements. You just wade in with your size 12s and seize on virtually every bit of news/gossip and turn it into a negative attack. I have lost count of the number of threads that you have started on here that are NEGATIVE. I remember not so long ago a game when we were two nil up, playing well and going for a third, and all you could muster up was "oh, I hope we can hang on." Don't you think that a realistic person would look at the current situation something like this? That we have Lowe back, like it or not. We don't have any money like it or not. We have a new set up which is was never going to deliver overnight but is part of a long term strategy, like it or not. We were always going to have tough year like it or not. That this is our club and although we might be unhappy with what is going on, the people that are here are doing their best in difficult circumstances and need support (and constructive rather than destructive critisism)rather than be torn apart at every opportunity by cyber warriors who have never played football at a decent level, never run a fooball club and have absolutely no idea of what is going on behind the scenes. Your positive posts are few and far between Alpine and you seem to revel in the club's misfortune. I think you biggest problem is that you think that everyone thinks like you or ought to think like you, and that if thye don't then there is something wrong with them. Perhaps you should go back and try reading some of your old threads as if written by someone esle. My God they are depressing. Realists do not make negative assumptiosn about everthing that happens. You do. Isn't the whole point about following a football club about the belief that no matter what happens today, that things will be better tomorrow? That we will win the next game. That we will have a decent cup run. They we will be promoted again one day. That we will put 6 past United again one day? You seem to get your kicks from thinking that we will lose the next game. That we will be out of the cup. That we will get relegated. That United will put 6 past us. If that is the case why even bother? You are not a realist. You are a pessimist. If you really cannot see that Alpine then I genuinely feel sorry for you. People want dreams but all you do is p*ss all over those dreams and offer up nightmares. You are like some characature of a goth football supporter conjured up by Tim Burton. Your posts depress the hell out of me Alpine. More so than anything Lowe has ever done. We all know things are cr*p. We don't need you coming on every day and rubbing our noses in it thanks. We want to believe that there is a better tomorrow. You just seem to want the people at the club, and the club as a whole, to fail so you can come back and tell us all that you were right all along. In your world tomorrow is rubbish so get in first and drag everyone down with you. Did you actually wish people Happy New Year last night? Or being a "realist" did you tell people that their houses would be worth less in 2009, they were likely to lose their jobs and someone they know will get cancer?
-
Why do you think he has decamped to Austria?
-
Players come and go all the time nowdays with the prevelance of loan deals. Why should SFC suddenly crumble? If we lose one or two players then it is down to the club to replace them, as it has done time and timer and time again without the world ending.
-
What are you talking about? They are not "noble" reasons, where did I ever say that. They are pragmatic reasons which everyone who decides not to go regularly (apart from teh Lowe boycotters) use. They involve things like children, expense, working, living a long way away and getting out of the habit of going to live football regularly on Saturdays when I started playing football myself when I was 17. Pretty boring stuff really wouldn't you agree? And the reason I did not mention it earlier. And guess what, I have never ever NOT gone to a match because I did not like, the Chairman/Manager/Groundsman/Tea Lady. I went to the 1976 Cup Final but did not go to the last one. Why? Because as I no longer go to many matches I felt it unfair to take a ticket from someone who did. Now that is "noble".
-
That is why we (and 99.9% of teams) do not play total football. I don't know where this idea came from. Is it just because JP and Wotte are Dutch? Even the great Brazilian side of 1970 did not play total football. When was the last time you saw a Dutch team playing total football? They did it for a while many years ago when they had the players who could do it.
