  1. The article confirms what I had said earlier.
  2. Fitzhugh Fella has nothing against our owners. All he pointed out originally was that Mr Liebherr was not answerable to anyone as no shareholders or other interested parties. He could do whatever he liked. As to Mr Cortese I can tell you from my club contacts that he is well liked as being a fair but very firm man. Pardew is under immense pressure to deliver as are the senior staff in the other parts of the business. Revenue streams from all parts are increasing under his direction. It would be a big loss if he went (assuming the story has any legs whatsoever. It is known he has had a spat with Murray but he has not spoken about it publically. That said I understand from both sources within the club and at the Echo that he has so far not been inclined to meet with Mr Murray to discuss. I am not going to post more on this subject and did not intend to respond to Matthew Le God but it is unfair of other posters to judge FF incorrectly.
  3. I am no supporter of some of the journalism of today. Freedom of the press is fine but sometimes they use that unwisely. I am not a supporter of Mr Murray and I am sure Mr Cortese is doing a good job at SFC BUT why is he (Cortese) not sorting out this spat. Why will he not speak to Murray. It takes two to negotiate and end to this silly issue. If one party refuses to meet the other how can it be resolved? The Echo will lose many friends over their obvious digs at Cortese but if he wont speak to them, how else will this be sorted. Saints need the Echo as much as the Echo needs Saints. SORT IT OUT
  4. I can see this thread coming back to bite us on the bum. We have all the bragging right at present. Money, winning team, increasing gates, progress and no longer the butt of media. We are gaining respect from all quarters. But, if we lose to Pompey in the FA cup a lot of the braging rights will return to them. I would have preferred we go out to any other club but them down the road. This game is so important. We must win. We have the momentum but at present they have a better team.
  5. Barnard cost much more that Saints would have liked.
  6. OK reality check time. First half we were outplayed, pulled out of shape, second to lose ball and too much hoof and poor passes out of defence. Second half we competed more but when we went 2-0 up a few of us looked at each other and agreed it did not reflect the game. Just as well Ipswich failed to penetrate. Looked a bit like Saints of old, pretty football without result. However, a good game and well done to the team. Thought Mills was all over the place in the first half but found his feet and had a very good second half. Thomas did well (what a goal), as did Jaidi but Perry was my man in defence. Played a very intelligent role almost in a sweeper role behind the others. James & Wooton were horrendous. No shape, no bite and no real idea. Lallana had a quieter game but he is carrying a groin strain (has for the last few weeks) and likely to be rested on Tuesday. Holmes had a good game and deserves to have a run in the team on his last few performances. Gillett (who is still trying to sort out his deal with Doncaster but they are not coming up with the right offer) was buzzing when he came on Lambert was his usual self. Worked hard. Barnard looked sharp and as he settles in he will be a good addition. Worked hard tracking back in the second half before he was subbed. Good striker goal from Antonio. Great win but Ipswich showed we still have a long way to go.
  7. Pre Match press conference cancelled because Avram Grant did not want to do it, according to Sky!
  8. Further confirmation http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/frattonlatest/Stoke-criticise-Pompey-over-James.6006749.jp What a joke!

  10. Paterson is a shy lad and a forced move out of his comfort zone is just what is required. Would have preferred a loan period as I think we might regret letting him go in a few years. Still if Barnard keeps relatively injury free this is a good deal for Saints in the short term.
  11. Worcestershire have announced they have released Kabir from the final year of his contract. Expect Hampshire to announce signing soon.
  12. Correct, not the trial. He will be asked his plea which will be not guilty and then the Judge will set a time line for certain things to happen by certain dates.
  13. Not massive. Advice briefs will be about £500 each. Solicitor costs at £300 per hour - Jacob will likely waive his Brief fee for court hearing about £4,000 each unless QC's used then about £8,000 each for the first day with a likely second day refresher at £2,000 each. Reckon about £35,000 all in
  14. No the hearing was on Friday but it may have been completed this morning. The Judge may wish to sit and look at the arguments, may be discuss with another experienced Judge before he prepares his judgement. Not unusual for civil cases
  15. Judgement reserved means very little, it just means the Judge wants more time to consider the issues. In this type of case the solicitors for both sides will be handed the judgement an hour or so before given in court. I had a reserved judgement in the London Commercial Court a few years back. The judgement was handed to both sides QC's (it was about £1m riding on it) the night before but they were under strict instructions not to disclose to anyone including the clients until it was handed down by the Judge. All I got was a call saying it was being handed down at 10:30 am the following day and I could sleep well Looks like Pompey may have arguments worth considering.
  16. Echo are quoting that Doncaster are asking for £800,000 but we feel that is too much. He was signed by Doncaster from Bournemouth for £150,000 I would assume that Saints value about £500,000 Stock contract with Doncaster expires June 2011.
  17. It is 4 4 2 with Lallana & Lambert up front. Just had it confirmed
  18. Players from Pompey visited sick children at Portsmouth QA yesterday. "It's nice to put a smile on the faces of those worse off that we are and are facing a long uphill struggle" said David Smith age 6
  19. Waigo is a tricky player with a bit of pace and will always cause headaches to the opposing defence. He can pass well. He needs to sort out his offside problems but he brings enough to the game so I would say yes, sign him up at the end of the season as our wide right player
  20. You are right, I forgot about Antonio remaining with us. Take Holmes out of subs and put Antonio in his place.
  21. No correct decision was to bat. Smith said he would have done the same.
  22. Still injured and 50/50 so doubt he will be risked
  23. Sidebotham will do well on this wicket if he bowls intelligently, as he can. Have to say though that it looks a decent wicket with a bit of swing and I would expect SA to score 300+ 155-9
  24. Possible team? ---------------------Davis-------------------- Otsemobor---Seaborne----Fonte---Harding --------------------James------------------------- Lallana---Schniederlin---Hammond----Waigo -------------------Lambert------------------------- Subs- Bialkowski, Wotton, Perry, Gobern, Mills, Holmes, Paterson
  25. Forgot Pericard. Swindon were favorite but now we have saved on Ward wages it could well be him. We will know at 11am
