david in sweden Posted 20 July, 2009 Share Posted 20 July, 2009 because it's obvious we still have the same staff (or those who are left) from a relegated side. In the past, pre-season kick-abouts have been a succession of goal feasts against inferior opposition and we told ourselves the team looked good / OK ... only to come up against " real teams" in the league who know that you have to work hard and play football to win games. At present no-one can feel secure of their place, and AP is starting with a clean team sheet..let's hope he can make some sense of it. If nothing else, these games will have shown some of the players that they are not as big as some of their egos, or as good as some of their agents pretend. COYR ! .....(whoever you are )
70's Mike Posted 20 July, 2009 Share Posted 20 July, 2009 off on holiday on weds until 6 august will expect to see a few new faces on the pitch at the millwall game and probably a different shape to the team
Daren W Posted 20 July, 2009 Share Posted 20 July, 2009 Pre Season friendlies cannot be taken seriously, they're purely and simply a fitness/evalutaion exercise. Does anyone think the Shamrock Rovers players and fans were worried if they lost to Real Madrid? We are a League One side playing a champions League side, I'm just impressed we scored first.... It shows where we need to strengthen and who will start and who needs more work, but all in all a promising start...

Obviously not but the main point is draws against Eastleigh and Totton, and a loss against Bournemouth shouldn't be a major concern. 11 half time subs show these games are just about fitness and getting the players used to playing again. Crab Lungs Posted 20 July, 2009 Share Posted 20 July, 2009 We should have built up some confidence playing these guys on a lucrative pre-season tour... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj7f3B1VCYM&feature=related
