oxfordshire_saint Posted 29 August, 2009 Share Posted 29 August, 2009 It's a huge month ahead for us now. Anything less than 9 points from those 5 games will be a disaster IMO.
S-Clarke Posted 29 August, 2009 Share Posted 29 August, 2009 If we're not in positive points by October then i fear for us. As you said, Sept. is a huge month. Will shape our season one way or another.

Paul Chuckle Posted 29 August, 2009 Share Posted 29 August, 2009 I think we all now realise this season is about survival. Building for next season. If we achieve safety it will be an achievement IMO especially on current form and results. Already 22 points behind top 2 jeez!

Looking at the games we've got, I'd say that any less than 10 would be a disaster & any less than 12 dissapointing. Colchester, Yeovil & Bristol Rovers at home all must be won, no questions. Would take a point at Charlton but think we'll lose there so need a win at Carlisle. That would be a good month.

To true forget the top of the table we need to be 5th from bottom & we need about 60 pts to get close I think the average to stay up is around 50 to 55 pts? We are already worse off than when we started need 11-pts to get out of the relegation places. Its all about survival this year & getting the squad ready for next year to hit the ground running. Hopefully.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 29 August, 2009 Share Posted 29 August, 2009 There needs to be a significant turn-around in results, in player attitude, but mostly in AP's team choice IMO. I do not think Lallana has a place in the team for example - he is a luxury player that will not help to turn results around at the moment. He is not a winger and cannot produce a consistently dead-ball delivery and that's something we need badly. With Lallana in the team we will continue to produce the type of football that will not close-out and win games. James and Mellis are OK players, but again do not add the skills that the team needs (although I think James at DCM with Hammond getting forward more might be a plan). AP needs to drop the players that cannot do the jobs needed and then we might see some results going our way.
egreog Posted 29 August, 2009 Share Posted 29 August, 2009 Give the manager and team time........to be in credit by November and off the bottom by Xmas would be an excellent achievement in my view and much more realistic than many who were thinking of play offs.......... not a prayer of that........ need to just try to stay in this league........if not, build next season from league 2........although hopefully it won't come to that
