dune Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 The Scum have had their swansong and now it's going to be one big fall for them. Best case scenario (for them) they'll be a Championship club next season and League 1 club the season after. In the meantime we will go up next season and will then be pushing for the Premiership. The brief blip of PFC supremecy will soon be put right and another 30 odd years of South Coast supremecy awaits us. Enjoy the ride because the good times are coming back. Perhaps Pompey fans thought we were on the way out last season So dont gloat until the Fat Lady actually sings We are still in League 1 and as Dubai Phil has said in his very good post we have a long way to go yet

saint lard Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 as a Gosport lad in the late 80s, I used to call them scummers. As a resident of Gosport now,i do often refer to them as Pompey scum/scummers.
WealdSaint Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 We are in the financial position to sign players like O'Hara permanently. Nuff said. (obviously some work to do to persuade them to come!)
Thedelldays Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 we are league 1..they are prem we will still be league 1 when they are in the CCC great
dune Posted 14 February, 2010 Author Share Posted 14 February, 2010 we are league 1..they are prem we will still be league 1 when they are in the CCC great That's one way of looking at it, but when we're in a similar position to Leeds or Norwich and they are in a similar position to Peterborough or Plymouth it won't feel like it. Whitey Grandad Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 we are league 1..they are prem we will still be league 1 when they are in the CCC great But that means that we can wave goodbye to them as we swap divisions. We might never play them again, even if they survive.

(obviously some work to do to persuade them to come!) I think if I was O'Hara I would want to play at Spurs or some other Premiership side rather than coming to League 1 Southampton. And that is our problem how to get CCC quality players to come to Southampton

Whitey Grandad Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 well..lets get promoted first...look at the league placings ffs..we are 18 points or eight from the playoffs.. people were posting that pompey have multi million pound players and struggled against what did we expect.. well..we have that over league 1.. promotion first..then worry about the skates.. Amen to that. I would be content with steady season-on-season improvement.
Legod Third Coming Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 we are league 1..they are prem we will still be league 1 when they are in the CCC great We won't. We will play them twice next season. We will beat them twice. The only possible solution for them to this, the High Court winds them up this week. HTH.
