70's Mike Posted 16 March, 2010 Share Posted 16 March, 2010 Did we play in Red and White in the 76 Charity Shield ? I think we did but a mate is saying this will be first final we have played in wearing stripes in our life time
Winnersaint Posted 16 March, 2010 Share Posted 16 March, 2010 We did. It was the first outing for the Admiral thick/thin stripes kit worn in mid to late 70s. The one you'll always picture Stevie Williams and Nick Holmes in.

Toomer - I still remember buying my first pair of Adidas Kick in there after graduating from plimsols and baseball boots purchased in Curtis's in East St. I'm not that far behind mate - born 65. My teenage years covered quite a few ahem memorable moments following the good old Red and White - '84 was an exceptional year.

Joe Kirkup Posted 16 March, 2010 Share Posted 16 March, 2010 I really liked that Admiral shirt (had one for Xmas). Was the first real replica kit you could buy. My mum bought me one but the shorts were far too tight. Didn't stop me wearing them though.
