1976_Child Posted 9 September, 2010 Share Posted 9 September, 2010 Anyone know where we will be welcome to quench our thirst at Swindon?
Saint_clark Posted 9 September, 2010 Share Posted 9 September, 2010 The Merlin is friendly, although there is one Swindon bloke in particular who likes to arrange his "meets" in there.
saintrich Posted 9 September, 2010 Share Posted 9 September, 2010 Looking to get into Swindon early to watch the Everton vs Man Utd game. Don't recall there being many pubs near the ground last time.

1976_Child Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Share Posted 9 September, 2010 the ground is only 10 mins walk from the station. According to Swindon's OS there is a pub called the White House near the station. Not sure how welcoming they will be, but I am heading there soon as I gets off the train. Take me 4 hours to get to Swindon from Brighton. And there is friggin commies striking on the tubes as well. C u nts.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 9 September, 2010 Share Posted 9 September, 2010 Apparently Merlin is quite near the ground, has Sky Sports, and is fairly decent. Town centre is only 20 minutes away. Not going in their home fans only pub like last time, wasn't very pleasant. We're driving to this one, anyone have any recommendations on where to park? (Preferably for free). Look on google maps, the huge grassy part just above their ground is all free parking on match days. Piece of p*ss to get to, and after the match it's a simple matter of walking out the turnstile and straight down the path.

Yeh cool sounds Good RedAndWhite91 mate and I will more than likely head for the Merlin as well sooo I may see you there! I think you can park at the Cricket Ground which costs £5 which isn't that far from the ground but other than that I don't know!

When you say not very pleasant, what do you mean? My version of not being very pleasant would be getting a bottle round the canister, or at least being told to f*ck off out of here before the whole pub irons me out, what is yours? Cui bono? There is no such thing as a free parking space. Never. I was led to believe this at both Coventry and Wycombe. Coventry said is was only a fiver and yet the retarded, fat mutant donkey spotted me wearing away colours and fleeced me for a tenner. And he had one of those inbred, inane looks on his face common to the Midlands proletariat as he supplemented his welfare cheque from my hard-earned. And at Wycombe there was no charge, but there was a half-decade wait after the game to get out. Ironic that at the Wanderers' ground one was incarcerated against one's will. So beware anyone telling you that there is free parking for away fans. It is never the case; they work for the dark side.

Getting bottled would be sh!t, a bit more than 'not very pleasant'. Not very pleasant is waiting ages to get served in a grotty pub around a load of pikey Swindon fans. Wasn't the best pub I've ever been in.

As it goes yeah i am. You got to admit, saying somewhere is unpleasant because they weren't in the classiest establisment and it took a while to get served is a bit f*cking soppy. Some of my best away days are drinking in sh*t hole locals. Try the Pea**** at Leeds!
