Colinjb Posted 7 October, 2010 Share Posted 7 October, 2010 Just been offered this as my new company car. The specs look pretty good, Sports Suspension, Cruise Control, Bluetooth connectivity etc. Anyone have any first hand experience with the latest Mondeo? I've heard good things but would rather hear it from an owner.

Smirking_Saint Posted 7 October, 2010 Share Posted 7 October, 2010 My 52 play 2.0 petrol Zetec was always an unexpected joy to drive, like having a rocket under an armchair in the fact that it was the comfiest drive i have ever had and also had the shifting power when needed. Hopefully the new one is the same, i will be looking at the company car scheme next year, let me know what its like as this was one of my favourites. I have a Ghia TDCi on a 53 plate and the difference between mine and my mates 09 plate 2.0 TDCi is noticeable.
Colinjb Posted 8 October, 2010 Author Share Posted 8 October, 2010 Ok. Barring an unsuccesful test drive I will be having the following: Ford Mondeo TDCi 2.0 (140) Zetec, Sports Suspension and Tinted Windows. Panther Black Metallic Paint. After doing some digging, it seems that the 2.0 TDCi Duratorq engine comes in at 115, 140 and 163 bhp levels. Could it be possible that the more 'gutless' ones stated above could be the 115 spec, or could the lower performance be just down to the extra car weight from the newer model? Not sure to be honest Colin, the drive I had was a pool car and I don't know the finer points of the vehicle's technicalities. I'd hazard a guess that it's the lower spec. dronskisaint Posted 8 October, 2010 Share Posted 8 October, 2010 I had exactly this model as a loan car while my car was in at the unbenders...I usually drive Audi A6 (last 3 anyway) but I recall thinking that at 70+ it was as smooth & quiet as my own & well specced. Well impressed - I hope you will be too.

Colinjb Posted 18 October, 2010 Author Share Posted 18 October, 2010 Just had one of these on a 4 day trial basis. Here are my thoughts. Excellent car, comfortable and powerful when needed and one of the most refined vehicles i've ever been in. The seats where good when I was being enthusiastic through the bends but superbly comfy when doing mile after dual carriage way mile. The vehicle suffered minimal body roll and buffeting through general driving and at no point ever felt stretched by my driving. The interior is nicely laid out, the adaptive crusie control is brilliant... makes driving long motorway distances effortless although it is creepy when it decides to break by itself if someone infront slows down. I achieved 46.6 mpg average over 450 miles mith easily over 50 while doing 75 mph on the motorway. I love it, have confirmed the order for my next company car and cannot wait until February! Sounds a lot more responsive than the chugger I described. Enjoy it mate!
Colinjb Posted 18 October, 2010 Author Share Posted 18 October, 2010 Sounds a lot more responsive than the chugger I described. Enjoy it mate! I am used to Diesels though. That 1000 rpm of power in each gear needs to be used wisely.
Winnersaint Posted 19 October, 2010 Share Posted 19 October, 2010 I've owned a 2.0 petrol Zetec Mondeo hatch since the middle of 2008. Although it isn't the fastest, it is comfortable, extremely well specced and a superb drive. I have the sports suspension on mine also. Can be a bit heavy on the juice, but that could be down to my right foot more than anything. I am due to decide what to do with it in May next year. I will either buy it outright or refinance it. I will not just be handing it back to the dealers as it has less than 20000 on the clock. Love the car.
