Noodles34 Posted 12 December, 2010 Share Posted 12 December, 2010 Listen to any pundit and they talk about 'the spine' of the team and that was the problem yesterday, Fonte, Chaplow and Barnard, and I guess you can go to KD as well, playing, but, well... no strength in depth either, look at the bench. We got a fully fit first 11 that is good enough to win this league, but without some of them available, its going to be difficult, January is going to be MASSIVE month, on and off the pitch, it will undoubtedly define our season. Colinjb Posted 12 December, 2010 Share Posted 12 December, 2010 Completely agree. Put that into the context of our weak bench yesterday and it's no wonder we looked lazy.... why bother when you are almost certainly not going to be subbed!? sadoldgit Posted 12 December, 2010 Share Posted 12 December, 2010 We do need new blood in January but do we have the cash and the owners the will?

Yeh I definately could not agree with you more there Noodles34 Mate as Yes it was Gutting that we lost especially at Home, But I think that we will regroup and rebuild and get back on track by beating Walsall and then fingers crossed getting something against Charlton and Huddersfield which will both be tough but we will see! Also would be Good to welcome back Fonte, Chaplow, Barnard etc as we were missing them yesterday and we gave it a go but that's Football and Saints for you as it shows that Anything Can Happen! COYR !!

No Fonte, Chaplow and Barnard = Lethargic Saints.
eelpie Posted 13 December, 2010 Share Posted 13 December, 2010 I always feel uneasy when I read a string of comments on the OS by players and present and past-managers of how well they are training and what a happy group of fellers they are. I think complacency. And surely enough they stroll on to the pitch and are overwhelmed by fired-up opposition. If they can play with determination against Brighton (this year) why can't they fight like that at other times? It's unprofessional and they should be docked wages when they don't put in the effort. I can stomach the odd players having an off day, but laziness, NO.
BotleySaint Posted 13 December, 2010 Share Posted 13 December, 2010 Once it became obvious that Lambert and Guly up front wasn't working on Saturday, we should have thrown Connelly into the mix (half time replacement for Lambert) and perhaps given Doble a chance to come on later in the game. I think Adkins had a bad game on Saturday and got the tactics wrong really.

corsacar saint Posted 13 December, 2010 Share Posted 13 December, 2010 For some reason the players lack mental backbone, this worried me when the bookies made them overwhelming favourites to win the league.[ I thought they would be second, but am not sure of that now]. The even bigger worry is if we do not go up automatically, because do these players have the bottle to win the play-offs,if we reach them?
Topcat Posted 13 December, 2010 Share Posted 13 December, 2010 It is not just the spine of the team but also the mental desire to win every tackle. To press and to challenge the opponents. That comes from the Manager and Coach.
