whelk Posted 26 June, 2011 Share Posted 26 June, 2011 From their official site, a statement from the club: The Hearts Board of Directors has issued the following statement in relation to outside influences on players and the club. "What's happening with the club today is not a new thing. For almost 7 years we have been fighting to shield the club from crooks, criminals and thieves. Many of the top players at the club have felt the bitter results of the swindles that have been carried out with them on their own skin. Skacel and Webster have returned to the club after realising where these 'football patriots' have led them. "Over a short space of time 4 players at our club have been on the wrong end of the law. We note that 3 of them are represented by the same agent - Gary Mackay - who has been so vicious in his attacks against Mr Romanov. "Taking into account the facts that have been omitted by the media it can be presumed that each of these cases is not a coincidence, but the result of targeted actions of a mafia that wants to manipulate the club and the results. "Every year Hearts fights to be in the top 3, but even last season in the last 12 games of the season it was almost like someone replaced the team with a different one. Whose fault is that? Players? Manager's? Or it is mafia. "Stealing players, bad games, problems with the law - all of that on top of record SFA fines. Problems are just shifted to another level. "Mafia are dragging kids into the crime, in order to blackmail and profit on them. It is not possible to separate these people from pedophiles, and you don't need to do that. Each year we are forced to fight against these maniacs harder and harder. We are standing in their way not letting them manipulate the game of football in the way they want. As such they undermine us in every possible way they can. "The task of the club is to tear these kids out of hands of criminals." Ok still bored and nothiong to do with Saints although was a reference to Skacel but makes Cortese's references to undermining seem pretty mild paranoia in compariosn. Faz Posted 26 June, 2011 Share Posted 26 June, 2011 Are thery talking about agents in general? or just that one?
The9 Posted 27 June, 2011 Share Posted 27 June, 2011 I would suspect they are trying to deflect attention from one of their players being added to the sex offenders register for "tapping up" a 12 and 14 year old online, as it were. Rambling on about mafia crime groups manipulating the media because 3 of their players have been caught up in things like this kind of overlooks that at least one of the crimes happened in Scotland, not known for its Eastern European crime mafia media links. I think mentioning paedophiles and that "The task of the club is to tear these kids out of hands of criminals" in the statement MIGHT have been a slight misjudgement, given that they haven't even sacked the bloke. And the reason Cortese hasn't issued any of these kind of statements has got quite a lot to do with him not being utterly insane, as well as Saints players not actually doing any of these things (yet, to my knowledge, etc.). The9 Posted 27 June, 2011 Share Posted 27 June, 2011 Oh, and having once played up front with a bloke who stood trial for rape (not convicted, disappeared from the area immediately after the trial and from the team the week before the story hit the papers) you could say that kind of thing affects team morale a little, which could possibly have explained the drop in form. That or having to play Rangers and Celtic a few more times with the title not even a remote possibility. As opposed to mafia scoundrels, you'd think. Saint_Jonny Posted 27 June, 2011 Share Posted 27 June, 2011 I wonder what his team mates think of him? I wouldn't want to associate with a peado!
jam Posted 27 June, 2011 Share Posted 27 June, 2011 And the reason Cortese hasn't issued any of these kind of statements has got quite a lot to do with him not being utterly insane, as well as Saints players not actually doing any of these things (yet, to my knowledge, etc.). Which I why I find it kinda funny that someone could suggest there is the slightest comparison between the two. TBF, I don't think I'd even compare Mad Milan to Romanov... stardustonmyfeet Posted 27 June, 2011 Share Posted 27 June, 2011 Romanov is really something. Can't believe they were top of the league with Burley!
sammysaint Posted 28 June, 2011 Share Posted 28 June, 2011 Surely if he knew they were that age he would of got jail or at least tag for 6 months plus the sex offender list.. makes me laugh LB may go down for a assault that happens every weekend ok its not a acceptable thing to do, but i feel sex offences to under 16s are worse then assault unless knifes or guns are used.
