ladysaint Posted 30 November, 2008 Share Posted 30 November, 2008 I thoroughly enjoyed the day and the match at Charlton yesterday, thought the lads gave their all and were unlucky not to have come away with the three points, if only we could finish. I dont think you can ask much more of the team than to give 100% and thats what they all did yesterday. Here are some photos from Charlton and the evening at the London Saints do, no doubt some may say more propoganda from the club but it is a long running and successful event arranged by Mick Strickland and the London Saints group, just hope Jan doesnt think I am stalking him :-) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=50666&l=fd1e0&id=726098588
washsaint Posted 30 November, 2008 Share Posted 30 November, 2008 Fantastic stuff....there's not many teams/players that would give up their Saturday evening for this sort of event. It feels like the spirit of Southampton is slowly returning - thanks to an honest, decent manager and a group of lads...most of who have been brought up from a young age playing for Saints youths, reserves and now first team. Tamesaint Posted 30 November, 2008 Share Posted 30 November, 2008 Great to see - any interesting gossip from this? Dave Hockaday wanted a high profile club in the FA Cup - someone who would get the stayaway fans back. Well he certainly got his wish didn't he!!! Dalek2003 Posted 30 November, 2008 Share Posted 30 November, 2008 Good news story. I say this cautiously, but we could be on the edge of turning the corner ?
Ewell Posted 30 November, 2008 Share Posted 30 November, 2008 Last night was brilliant. Thanks to London Saints for organising and thanks to Keith for sorting our tickets. Jan and the team were excellent company and it was good to see them enjoy a beer with the fans. Jan is so positive and I really believe given time he will get us competing in the championship again. The only negative from the night is the venue was a bit cramped and not as good as 3-4 years ago. Brilliant pub with great beer though! Thanks again to those who organised and also to Jan and the team for turning up!
Deano6 Posted 30 November, 2008 Share Posted 30 November, 2008 +1 from me on all the comments. A great event put on and was fantastic to have a beer with the lads. I was quite surprised how open and candid Jan was, he's an interesting fellow. Surman's a top bloke too - didn't come across as having a huge ego and was just like talking to anyone else my age. Only downside was Kelv started questioning my sexuality when I suggested we could make a good table football team. He hadn't been particularly impressed with the goalkeeping advice I'd been passing on to him. All in good spirits tho! Thanks to the organisers of the event, and to the guys who invited me along. I've managed to get my mug onto the website too!
