I've just had my 60 plate Vauxhall Insignia MOT'd for the first time. It's passed, but has an advisory on the rear brake pads and discs - 90% worn.

Would anyone know how much this should cost, and be able to recommend a good mechanic to replace these?

Have you considered doing it yourself?

Disk pads are usually a doddle to change.

Otherwise, Pete King in Salem Street will do a good job at a reasonable price (he's also a Saints season-ticket holder).

He said pads and discs. If the discs are worn he probably needs to get a pro to do it.

I'm surprised that the discs are worn on a car that age, unless he let his pads get really bad.

Still a job that can be done at home I'd say, depends how confindent you are mechanically I suppose.

Price the parts on euro car parts and allow 25% discount for readily available discount codes. Labour should be half an hour per side, so £40 or so.
