What’s quite funny is that the economists article still features a chart crime. The log scale hides how bad the figures truly are. If you adjust to a linear scale, it looks like this:

Well yes, that's what a log scale does, and it says it on the last one you posted? Sorry, not sure what your point is here?

From a REDDIT discussion - quotes taken from the Economist article ;

"This suggested Afghans are convicted of sex crimes at seven times the British rate—a far cry from Mr Timothy’s “over 20 times”, but disturbing nevertheless (see chart)."

"here age-standardised analysis exists for those countries, the over-representation shrinks, as in Britain, but it does not vanish.

Looking at convictions by ethnicity, rather than nationality, is more reassuring. The Ministry of Justice produces detailed data on prosecutions and convictions by age, sex and ethnicity. We used these to repeat our age-standardised analysis, for the same 2020-22 window. Our results suggested that Pakistani, other Asian and other non-black minority men were no more likely to have been convicted of sex offences than white British men."

"And the numbers need to be kept in perspective. In 2010-12 Afghan nationals were convicted of 92 sex crimes; in 2022-24 the total was 102. Ten additional sex crimes, after the Afghan population has roughly tripled, is not an epidemic." "

Still too high mind. I think this is an issue with living under Taliban rule for so long - behaviours become indoctrinated and endemic in society.

There are many statisticsl twists to this. One is that males between 18 and 35 commit proportionally far more sexual assaults than the total male population, and a large proportion of the immigrants fall into that category, but whether any individual immigrant is more likely to offend than a Brit, I don't know. It is certainly more likely to be reported in the media.

It's FOUR years out of date.

Have you got the current figures, or even last year's figures?
