bigdavewatson Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 I fancied a bit of a treat for the Swansea game with my boy and a mate. I sent an e-mail and got a hell of a shock when I got the response. I was offered space in the Bobby Stokes suite at the above price - unbelievable! So the option for the three of us was to pay £387.50 for a 2 course buffet and complimentary beer (no concession for kids that can't drink the booze!) or £54 in the Northam and buy your own. Guess which option I took. Mind you, they said the Mick Channon suite had sold out so the season ticket promotion must have worked. £130 per person for the lowest level hospitality against Swansea in our current predicament - what has the world come to??? bridge too far Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 I was going to take 10 of us on a hospitality for my son's birthday last year. They wouldn't offer a discount on the price of £99 + VAT per person in the Mick Channon suite. The deal was a buffet meal, wine and beer and a programme and match day parking. When I asked if they could 'throw in' a birthday cake, they said that would be another £50. A similar package at Wycombe Wanderers, with 3 course 'proper' meal, half time and full time refreshments was £40. OK I know it's League 2 but I reckon it was much better value for money. VectisSaint Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 remember the hospitality at the dell....it used to be those flats in archers road:-) i always wanted to live on the top floor when i was a kid. The students who lived there in the mid 70s always found they had more friends on a match day/evening Trouble was you couldn't see all of the pitch from the balcony. rooney Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 Unfortunately the Club have no idea about marketing and Business Development. Unfortunately, they have the old British Rail Syndrome charge high prices for empty carriages or offer a good discount and fill them up. No wonder we are going into administration! Mattio Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 Its amazing the difference in price from other championship teams (in better league table circumstances I might add) at the club I work at (Plymouth) you get VIP Car park passes, Pre-match celebrity guest speaker (usually some ex player I've never heard of tbh), Complimentary match-day magazines (again not a lot) three-course meal (not two course), Half-time refreshments, Man of the Match presentation all for £58ish quid! over half the SFC price
SaintBobby Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 I go to the Mike Channon suite about three or four times a year. Shelled out for the Bobby Stokes suite for the England U-21 game a few months back. It is pricey and the mark-up is obviously very high, but I think it's a great facility for the club to have. I'm not rich enough to buy a box - nothing like - but some of my family much prefer seeing a game in this way and we quite often bring a mate or two if it's for a birthday party or anniversary. If you can't afford it, I understand. And they may have to drop the prices (compared to e.g. Saints v Man Utd in the Premier League), but I've been there with "neutrals" and "sympathisers" and it is a good set up. QPR, for example, simply cannot provide this service. Now, fair enough to ask "what good is this in League One?" but, on the other hand, it is the infrastructure that gives us the look and feel of a club that "should" be in the Premiership.... L1Minus10 Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 Corporate ****ing shiit. Some (me) would argue that the day football clubs started ramping up the corporate hospitality was when it all started going to shiit. :butthead:

Still say though...and gees...it sounds so consumer-ish - taht if you can get some folk to pay £100+ for a seat, then it's best to have the capacity to do it.
